In Portugal’s biggest match that does not involve the traditional big three, Braga and Vitória Guimarães go head to head in the Minho derby on Monday night.
Both clubs go into the match in superb form. Braga have won 11 of their last 12 matches, and should they prevail tomorrow the Arsenalistas will move to within three points of joint Liga ZON Sagres leaders, Benfica and FC Porto.

But Vitória have won five out of their last six Liga games, and became the first team to defeat Benfica last weekend with a hard-fought but deserved 1-0 victory.

Braga coach Leonardo Jardim is in no doubt about the outcome he is after. “The only result we want is the win. That will allow us to consolidate our position in the table,” said the man whose success this season has earned him the nickname of “the Mourinho of Madeira”.

Vitoria Guimaraes vs Benfica Report

Monday February 20 2012,
Vitória Guimarães beat Benfica at the Dom Afonso Henriques Stadium on Monday night to blow the Portuguese title race wide open.
Benfica went into the match still unbeaten in the Liga ZON Sagres, but the Eagles were never at their fluid best against a determined Guimarães side.

Brazilian striker Toscano scored what proved to be the winner shortly before the interval as Benfica's defense failed to deal with a free-kick.

The hosts continued their excellent recent form to hold on for the three points and become the first side to get the better Jorge Jesus' men in the league this season.

The defeat sees Benfica's lead at the top of the table cut to just two points. FC Porto are now within striking distance of the Lisbon club, and the great rivals meet in two weeks' time at the Estádio da Luz in a match that will surely have a crucial bearing on who become champions in 2011/12.

Benfica will look to restore their five-point lead on Monday evening as they travel to Vitória Guimarães in the final Round 19 match in Portugal.
Benfica’s superb run of eleven straight wins came to an end in the sub-zero temperatures of Russia against Zenit St. Petersburg last Wednesday, but coach Jorge Jesus says it is simply a matter of licking their wounds and getting straight back on a winning run.

“The time between the two games (Zenit and Guimarães) is essential to recover properly, and from that point of view there is no problem. We are coming off a defeat, but it was a defeat that gives us confidence of making progress in the Champions League,” said Jesus.

“Now we must focus on Guimarães. This is one of the most difficult opponents we are going to face until the end of the championship. Guimarães are always strong, especially in their own stadium.”
