A ticket for Brazil, reconstruction for Venezuela
Having already qualified for South Africa 2010, Brazil will be playing to win regardless of their success thusfar. They come from a 2-1 loss in Bolivia, where the altitude proved to be a difficult task for them.
Venezuela unfortunately met their end this weekend when they lost to Paraguay at home 1-2. Of their past 5 games, this was their only loss and their eyes were set on South Africa.
Now, Venezuela must pick up the pieces and play for pride. A win away in Brazil would be huge for their countrymen and a good start at thinking about the next FIFA World Cup in 2014 in Brazil.
Importance of the game
Argentina made an amazing effort to grab the 3 points at home against Peru with a stoppage time goal by veteran Martin Palermo. They now currently stand in fourth place with 25 points.
Uruguay had an equally exciting game away in Ecuador with a last minute penalty goal by Diego Forlan. They currently are one point behind Argentina with 24 points.
While a tie could ensure an automatic spot for Argentina (unless Ecuador win away in Chile by 5 or more goals), a win is a must for Uruguay if they want that automatic spot.
Both countries want nothing more than to have that automatic entry to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, but the fifth place finisher will have to go to a home and away playoff against either Honduras or Costa Rica.
It may not be the big game of the day in the CONCACAF Group – that would have to be the intriguing clash between Honduras and the USA – but for Costa Rica this will be the defining moment of their qualifying campaign.
After leading the group in this final round of qualifying matches Los Ticos have hit the wall losing their last three matches with no goals scored and eight conceded resulting in coach Rodrigo Kenton sacked and...
Where they stand
Having already qualified and comfortably sitting at the top of the table, any result for Brazil will not affect their chances at reaching South Africa 2010.
Bolivia, on the other hand, look for a moral victory at home despite having already been knocked out of the 2010 edition of the FIFA World Cup.

The last time these two teams met in World Cup Qualifying was on September 10, 2008, where they drew 1-1 in Lima.
Unfortunately for Peru, no result from this game will increase their chances for a ticket to South Africa, as they were the first team to be eliminated from South America World Cup Qualifying. Currently they sit at the bottom of the table with just 2 wins, 4 ties, and 10 losses.
Argentina is in a much more interesting situation, to say the least. Currently sitting...
