"We will have to do something extraordinary to win the Scudetto" - Milan coach Allegri

Saturday April 28 2012,
Tags: Siena, AC Milan, Serie A, Massimiliano Allegri
Ahead of their visit to Siena, the coach admitted that the Rossoneri will have to pray for a miracle to win back-to-back league championships.
Italian champions AC Milan confront Sunday's Serie A clash with Siena knowing that they are in a must-win situation, because anything less than the three points would practically hand the Scudetto to league leaders Juventus.

Milan trail their rivals by just three points, but with only a handful of games left to play this season, the Rossoneri can't afford any more slip-ups.

Massimiliano Allegri, the coach of Milan, understands that the title isn't in his team's hands any longer, but as a mathematical possibility still exists he has no plans of relinquishing the title.

With only four rounds left to play in the Serie A this season the coach believes his side are the firm favourites to clinch the title.
Antonio Conte is convinced that Juventus will shake off the threat posed by AC Milan to become the Italian champions.

Juventus find themselves three points clear of Milan at the league summit, and will be hoping to take a giant leaps towards the Scudetto by picking up the three points at the Stadio Comunale Silvio Piola against lowly Novara on Sunday.

The Bianconeri still remain unbeaten in the Serie A this season, and will be looking to extend their impressive winning streak to eight games by the hand of Conte.

Parma's Sebastian Giovinco believes Milan will oust former club Juventus for the Scudetto

Thursday March 15 2012,
Tags: Sebastian Giovinco, Parma, Milan
The tiny striker will be looking to impress when Parma clash with a Milan outfit which he rates as being the strongest in Italy.
According to Parma striker Sebastian Giovinco, AC Milan play the best soccer in the Serie A and will go on to win the Scudetto for a second consecutive year.

The diminutive goal-poacher, who is co-owned by Juventus, will be hoping to fire on all cylinders when his team welcome Milan to the Stadio Ennio Tardini on Saturday, but still believes that the Rossoneri are the odds on favourites to win back-to-back titles.

"Our next game is the one against Milan, and it will be a very difficult game. We will have to be in perfect form to get a good result," Giovinco declared to Il Corriere dello Sport.

Do Juventus have what it takes to win their first Scudetto since the 2002-03 Serie A season?

Thursday February 2 2012,
Tags: Juventus, Serie A
La Vecchia Signora have yet to taste defeat this term and everything seems to indicate that the title will be theirs.
With Italy's Serie A at its mid-point stage, there's no question as to whom are the favourites to clinch the Scudetto come the end of the season. Juventus, Italy's most storied club with a staggering 27 league championships to their name, have been unstoppable this season, and they currently lead the Serie A with 44 points, one point more than their closest rivals AC Milan, and also with a game in hand.

Juventus, who last won the Italian championship in their 2002-03 campaign, have undergone a rebuilding process since being relegated to the Serie B following the Calciopoli scandal, but finally after many years of difficulty it seems that La Vecchia Signora are back on their way to returning to being the force that they once were.

Inter's quiet summer transfer could give AC Milan an easy Scudetto run

Thursday September 8 2011,
Tags: AC Milan, Internazionale, Serie A
Luciano Moggi puts AC Milan well above any other team in Italy on paper. Would it be fair to predict an easy run for the Rossoneri in their defense of the Serie A title?
AC Milan—the complete squad

In veteran Clarence Seedorf, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Thiago Silva, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robinho and Alexandre Pato, AC Milan possess a competitive and strong squad in every area. Rumors linking the Rossoneri to Lassana Diarra, Maxwell, Seydou Keita and Fernando Tissone resulted in nothing—much at the indifference of CEO Adriano Galliani.

“Milan are light years ahead compared to the rest,” Luciano Moggi confidently declared in an interview with Radio Mana Mana Sport this week.

AS Roma vs AC Milan Preview

Friday May 6 2011,
Tags: Roma, Milan, Allegri, Scudetto
Milan need only a point against Roma at the Olimpico to win their eighteenth and Massimiliano Allegri's first Scudetto.
The month of May that stretches before Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri must exhilarate even him. In the last nine months, Allegri has negotiated the onerous pressure of a new high-profile job, player egos, and, perhaps his signal achievement, a two-point gap going into a late-season Milan derby with equanimity that would edify even Jose Mourinho.

Now, with Allegri's first and Milan's eighteenth Scudetto imminent, and a Coppa Italia final berth eminently achievable, Allegri is perhaps finally feeling the magnitude of what he has managed in his first season with a 'big' club. Only a point and an unpredictable Roma lie between Milan and their first Scudetto in seven years. For Allegri to inherit a brand new team that was stirring to take shape for most of the fall and still manage to lead the Serie A since November is proof that the 'coach of the year' accolades he earned for his work with Cagliari last year and the year before were genuinely deserved.

Leonardo Says AC Milan vs Inter Is Not ‘Crucial’. Shockingly Right Or Wrong?

Friday April 1 2011,
Tags: Leonardo, Scudetto, Udinese, Fiorentina, AS Roma, Sampdoria
Coach Leonardo has interestingly downplayed the importance of Saturday’s AC Milan vs Inter derby whereas everyone around him portrays it as the Scudetto’s decider. Live Soccer TV tackles this topic.
It is true that nothing is over until it is over and that points get counted at the end of the road in football. However, mathematical possibilities don’t always defeat realism. If Inter fall 5 points behind AC Milan on Saturday with a defeat, it won’t mathematically rule out Leonardo’s team as potential title winners since there will then be 7 more matches to go.

However, football fans will expect AC Milan to keep matters in their own hands at the disadvantage of the then-wounded Nerazzurri. So isn’t it normal to view this weekend’s derby as the ultimate title decider?

Milan Refuse to Seal The Scudetto

Sunday March 20 2011,
Tags: Milan, Berlusconi, Inter
Milan's recent reluctance to seal the championship coincides with a tough time for the club's owner.
Perhaps it is fitting. Milan owner and Italian prime-minister Silvio Berlusconi is about to stand trial for charges of having paid for sex with a minor. Even for the country’s most risible Casanova, a man whose peccadilloes and alleged crimes have been allayed by a Berlusconi è sempre Berlusconi attitude and a supine legal system, the latest wallow seems to have been one descent too far.

At a recent ceremony in Rome celebrating Italy’s 150th year since unification, Berlusconi was jeered, which, to look on the bright side, was an improvement on a public appearance in 2009 that left him with a bloody face. Those who sneer at Berlusconi’s politics and scandals have had plenty of reasons recently to feel completely vindicated.

The Simultaneous Successes of Both Milan and Napoli Are Familiar

Saturday February 26 2011,
Tags: Milan, Napoli, Maradona, Ibrahimovic, Scudetto, Serie A
Ahead of Monday's top-of-the-table clash between Milan and Napoli, it is worth recalling a time when the two used to challenge for the Scudetto. This article originally appeared on January 24, 2011.
Last week had given Inter vital hope of usurping Milan at the top of Serie A. While Inter were annihilating Bologna 4-1, Milan’s 1-1 draw with Lecce exposed their tendency to extinguish slowly with the dying embers of a game. The disparity in confidence was jarring. Inter’s 3-2 win over Cesena mid-week--the first of the two games they had in hand--only served to consolidate the Rossoneri’s fears: an unthinkable mid-winter deposition.

Combined with the fact that the club’s supremo, Italian prime-minister Silvio Berlusconi, is himself involved in a bid to keep hold of the leadership of the country after squalid revelations of his sexual activity, you could say Inter had all the momentum and motive they needed to deliver a crippling blow this weekend.

Marco Materazzi: Juventus Should Hand Over 2002 Scudetto to Inter

Saturday February 5 2011,
Tags: Juventus, Inter Milan, Marco Materazzi, Serie A
Marco Materazzi believes that Juventus should hand over the 2002 title to Inter in addition to the titles they were already stripped off due to some controvesy.
Juventus were stripped of the Scudetto they won during the 2004-2005 season and the 2005-2006 season after some match-fixing allegations. In addition to that, Juventus were also demoted to the Serie B.

According to reports, Juventus are now preparing to take legal action so that their titles can be restored to them. But Inter defender Materazzi feels otherwise.

"Juve want their Scudetti back? Well they shouldn’t ask us, as I would take back the one we lost on May 5 2002," Materazzi told the television show Chiambretti Night.

Serie A Week 20 Talking Point: Milan's Scudetto Panic

Monday January 17 2011,
Tags: Serie A, Milan, Inter, Ibrahimovic
Inter are closing in on Milan at the top of Serie A.
It may be alarmist to suggest, but I get the feeling that this Scudetto is Inter’s to lose. It seems absurd to say so when you consider that even if Inter win their two games in hand, they would still be three points off of Milan, but the Rossoneri’s largesse in dropping points could come back to haunt Massimiliano Allegri’s side, especially when you consider that Inter have a much more capable bench.

Milan’s 1-1 draw against Lecce on Sunday was not just significant because it came after Inter’s emphatic 4-1 win over Bologna; it also showed that even if Zlatan Ibrahimovic manages magic, Milan are not guaranteed to win. His stunning goal from distance, with two defenders on him and with his weaker left foot, is the goal of the season for me.

How Inter’s Champions League Ambitions Have Gifted Roma The Scudetto

Tuesday April 13 2010,
Tags: Italy, Inter, Roma, Serie A, Champions League
With five rounds of football to be played in Italy, the Giallorossi are in the box seat to clinch the Scudetto.

Having led the way in Italy for the large majority of the 2009/10 Serie A campaign, Jose Mourinho’s Inter have finally been usurped atop of the league table by Roma, following their 2-2 draw at Fiorentina last weekend. Despite possessing by far the strongest squad on paper, the Nerazzurri’s fifth successive Scudetto seems to be slipping...

Inter Must Shape Up Or Risk Conceding This Season's Scudetto

Tuesday March 9 2010,
Tags: Inter Milan, Serie A, Jose Mourinho
Comfortable 11 point buffer from just a couple of months ago is now down to a mere four points with 11 rounds to play.

Jose MourinhoJose Mourinho's Inter Milan have been in cruise control for the most of the 2009/10 edition of Italy's Serie A, and for that reason many had them pencilled in to claim their fifth successive Scudetto. With a comfortable 11 point buffer over their nearest rivals just a couple of months ago, the Nerazzurri looked set to become the first ever Italian outfit to achieve the impressive feat – however how quickly things can change.

Having won just one of their past five league fixtures, the reigning champions have seen their advantage over cross town rivals Milan whittle down to a mere four points with 11 rounds to play. Even more of a concern for Mourinho is that his side has scored in just one of these matches, with the other three ending in dull scoreless draws.
