Liverpool vs Man City: Reds could help or worsen Manchester United’s title cause

Sunday November 27 2011,
Tags: Manchester United
For once this season, Manchester United fans will fiercely get behind bitter rivals Liverpool…
The Merseyside Reds will welcome current English Premier League leaders Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday afternoon in what promises to be a terrific encounter. But the competition between the Red Devils and the Citizens currently sees Manchester City having the upper hand.

As things stand, Roberto Mancini’s billionaires possess a 4-point lead over their local foes. Should City avoid defeat at Anfield, the gap will widen to 5 or 7 points at the top of the standings.

Here, the big problem for Manchester United is that they have only one fixture against Man City remaining. The Red Devils already blew away 3 massive points in a humiliating 6-1 defeat at Old Trafford the other time.

Liverpool’s defense has been terrible this summer, and though it doesn’t mean much since the games are not competitive, Daniel Agger insists that the Merseyside Reds need to take things seriously now.
Liverpool’s supporters have had their hopes boosted by the arrival of more signings this summer. Midfielders Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing, Jordan Henderson have been welcomed at Anfield to boost Liverpool’s attacking options from the wings and center of the field.

Indeed, the revolution under Kenny Dalglish is expected to get hotter next season. However, Liverpool’s Daniel Agger fears that the club will suffer from a new problem: its defense. In 5 club friendly matches, the Merseyside Reds have let in as many as 15 goals.

In their latest results, they lost 3-0 to Hull City and allowed 3 more goals against Valerenga in a 3-3 draw in Norway. Agger revealed his fury while speaking to reporters as ESPN could quote:

Liverpool’s Gerrard Warns EPL Rivals: Reds Will Be Champions Again… Soon!

Wednesday June 29 2011,
Tags: Steven Gerrard, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City
Liverpool's Steven Gerrard is very optimistic about the club's future. The skipper is seeing light at the end of the tunnel.
There have been so many taunts aimed at Liverpool down the years due to the Merseyside Reds’ inabiity to clinch a single English Premier League title since 1991. However, Liverpool are working towards a revival of the club and captain Steven Gerrard believes that the team’s progress has been rather positive under coach Kenny Dalglish.

Having failed to qualify for Europe, Liverpool will benefit from more time in a less tense football agenda next season. The English Premier League, the FA Cup (which they last won in 2005) and the Carling Cup will be at stake whereas there will be no UEFA Champions League or Europa League fixture in their schedule.

Manchester United Fans Taunt Liverpool But Reds Could Have The Last Laugh

Wednesday May 18 2011,
Tags: Manchester United
Could it be seen as the image of the week? Some Manchester United fans are apparently well in the mood of their English Premier League triumph, but Liverpool are plotting a comeback.
English magazine The Sun reported on Wednesday on the issue—depicting the group of Manchester United fans behind the piece of work as “cheeky”. Actually, a motorway signboard close to Junction 24 on the southbound M6 portrayed Manchester United’s advantage over Liverpool in terms of league title wins as it wrote, “Liverpool 18” and “Manchester United 19”.

According to reports, the Merseyside Reds have asked the “offending” motorway sign to be removed. In another related story, Manchester United fans also organized a campaign to fire the 1985 hit entitled “19” of Paul Hardcastle at number 1 in the charts. The move is to honour the lucky number 19 at the contempt of Liverpool.

Monday May 16 2011,
Tags: Alex Ferguson
Fergie has promised football’s public that Manchester United will go all out to attack against Barcelona. Is the Red Devils plans good news or bad news for Barcelona?
When you opt to play a defensive game against Barcelona, expect a flood of criticism to pour down on you. Football fans are very demanding and negative tactics—also known as “anti-football”—are branded by many as an act of cowardice. For a multitude of supporters, it apparently seems more unjust to claim victory through “anti-football” than through “luck” from highly controversial officiating.

Are Manchester United prepared to change their identity (like attacking side Arsenal did at the Camp Nou) in attempt to defeat Barcelona on the score board? Apparently, the answer to this question is “no” according to Sir Alex Ferguson.

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur: How Spurs Have Eased The Reds’ Europa League Bid

Could it seem absolutely reasonable to confirm Liverpool as UEFA Europa League spot winners with two English Premier League match-days to go?

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur could see the Merseyside Reds seal their top 5 finish.Quick Analysis Ahead Of Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur

Liverpool already have the advantage knowing that they lead Spurs with 2 points ahead of this weekend’s action. This means that victory at Anfield over the Lilywhites will seal a fifth-place finish for the Merseyside Reds. The race for UEFA Europa League tickets in England is pretty much a two-horse affair—between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

The winner of the fight could even be decided on the very last match-day of the English Premier League; that is, if the Merseyside Reds fail to beat their rivals from London on Sunday. In truth, aren’t Liverpool the sole combatants for the only Europa League spot which is on offer?

Why Liverpool Vs Manchester City Could End The Reds' European Dreams

Sunday April 10 2011,
Tags: Kenny Dalglish, Steven Gerrard, Ian Ayre, Roberto Mancini
It will be a highly anticipated clash at Anfield tomorrow as Liverpool take on Manchester City, knowing that a defeat could very well end their European dreams.

Considering that even Tottenham Hotspur are not mathematically safe from relegation is something that virtually sums up a fantastic season of Premier League football that we have had so far. But things are not looking quite done yet for the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool as they continue their never-ending battle of securing a Champions League spot for next season.

Ever since the Arabians took over the throne at Eastlands, success in Europe has been their ultimate priority as they lavishly invested millions on new acquisitions in a bid to transform City into a global European powerhouse.

The impact of that spending has virtually made some real positive impact to be frank when it comes to City's improvement in the league standings. However, things are not quite done yet for Roberto Mancini and his team as they still face a tough fight in the ongoing battle for European spots.

Champions League – Manchester United vs Marseille: What Are The Reds’ Plans?

Tuesday March 15 2011,
Tags: Nani, Chris Smallings, Antonio Valencia
Having failed to grab a goal away to Marseille, Manchester United are obliged to win on Tuesday night. Live Soccer TV wonders about the kind of approach that the Reds may use.

Marseille denied Manchester United from scoring in France. What Manchester United’s 0-0 Draw Means

The first thing everyone can understand is that the Red Devils must avoid a score draw if they want to cross the Last 16 of the UEFA Champions League. In such instance, the away goal rule will automatically put Olympique Marseille through to the next stage of the competition.

Evidently, defeat for Manchester United at Old Trafford will create the same result: an European exit for the 2008 UEFA Champions League winners. In conclusion, Manchester United are left with only one option as they aim to reach Wembley; they must beat Olympique Marseille or kick out.

Interestingly, drawing is still an alternative and how so? Since extra-time exists in knock-out stages games, a 0-0 score line within 90 minutes of football may be good enough for the Red Devils to maintain their Champions League aspirations alive.

Chelsea vs Manchester United: Torres Sad About Ferdinand’s Absence For The Reds

It’s Chelsea vs Manchester United tonight but it won’t be Fernando vs Ferdinand as the Manchester United defender has been ruled out through injury. This has left Torres somehow disappointed.
The Spaniard, who hasn’t netted a single goal for Chelsea so far, is preparing for the action against the English Premier League’s leaders. Fernando Torres had a good record against Manchester United during his time at Liverpool and he’ll hope to add more goals to the ones he’s already scored against the Red Devils.

However, the Chelsea striker would be happier to do so against Manchester United’s strongest defensive line as he believes that one must beat the best to be the best. But with Rio Ferdinand’s confirmed absence from Tuesday night’s match, Fernando Torres feels a bit sad as he told Chelsea’s official website.

Liverpool Transfer Rumours: Luis Suarez To Leave Ajax For Kenny Dalglish’s Reds

Monday January 17 2011,
Tags: Liverpool, Luis Suarez, Ajax, Transfer
Ajax captain Luis Suarez is said to have requested a move in this January transfer window, and Premier League strugglers Liverpool could well be the next lucky club to acquire the Uruguayan striker.
If Suarez ever joins Liverpool, then Fernando Torres’ work in front for the Reds would be made easier in a remarkable manner and this could truly help Dalglish’s side who has not been in form this season. Having seen that scoring more goals in upcoming matches could hide his team’s defensive problems and improve results, the Liverpool manager has decided to contact the Ajax club for their special forward.

Suarez, who was given a 7-match ban in the Eredivisie for violent conduct on the pitch, has not been enjoying the best of times since the exit of manager Martin Jol. It is hence reported that the main character of the 2010 World Cup myth “The Devil’s Hand” has asked his new coach Frank De Boer to let him leave as soon as possible.

Tags: Liverpool, Stoke City, English Premier League, Steven Gerrard
Liverpool will clash against Stoke City this weekend as their unbeaten run continues in the English Premier League. Steven Gerrard is looking for a victory following their recent draw.
Stoke City’s Britannia Stadium isn’t the best place for weakened teams to recharge their batteries. Arsenal and Manchester United can tell you just how much strength and luck is needed at times to triumph away to Stoke.

Now Liverpool are in a delicate situation presently, hanging on to their current top half position. Their defeat of Chelsea injected some much needed excitement among their supporters, but their very recent 1-1 draw away to Wigan Athletic has somehow brought disappointment once again.

Unfortunately for Liverpool, they couldn’t capitalize on Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland’s draw. Eventually, they still seat behind these two teams in 9th position with 16 points like 5 other English Premier League contenders.
