Reports have suggested that all three teams have knocked on Fiorentina's door this past week and put in bids for Juan Manuel Vargas. This is no surprise to those of us who have followed Vargas this season and during his career. Since his professional debut for Universatio de Deportes, (Peru), in November 2002, his career has been a model progression of step by step.
After imposing and consistent performances for ´La Crema' for two and a half years he left Peru to play in Argentina for Club Atletico Colon. His adaptation did not take long and he continued to develop his abilities in the Argentinean League. Just when the 2006 Apertura season was about to commence Europe came calling, specifically Portsmouth and Vargas decided to come and grow as a footballer. However, a deal was not agreed and finally Vargas ended up signing for Serie A club Calcio Catania in 2006 for around $3.3m.
