Manchester United Must Get Goals Coming in Soon - Sir Alex's Challenge Against Everton

Friday April 22 2011,
It might be business as usual at Old Trafford but the league table shows that United need to aim for a huge victory over Everton in terms of goals tomorrow.

Old Trafford has virtually been a story of joy, fun and thrill as far as Manchester United are concerned this season. I mean, what else can make them happy when they have collected 52 points from an available 54 over there at the Theatre of Dreams.

And to be frank, their home form has been so impressive that it even kept United's title dream alive all season long considering how poor they have been away from home. Five wins in 17 matches hardly justifies any positive side of their form away from Old Trafford in the Premier League this season.

But hello, United are leading the pack with only a mere five games to go before the season draws it's conclusion. How better can that be when you think of how inconsistent they have been while playing in away games.

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Didier Drogba will start the FA Cup Fourth round replay clash with Everton
There were rumors that Didier Drogba was unhappy after he was dropped to the bench in Chelsea's draw with Fulham last week to accommodate Fernando Torres on the team. However, Ancelotti insists that it was a tactical decision and Drogba will start the match against Everton.

"Drogba will start," said Ancelotti. "I don't know about Nicolas Anelka, but I have to start with Drogba. It is never an easy decision to leave players out, but Didier has shown a very good reaction. He has trained well, with motivation, and he wants to play a good game tomorrow.

"From what I have seen, he's the same Didier - focusing on training and working hard with good motivation. I think he will play a fantastic game."

“Jack Rodwell's done great, he's made great strides to be fit but I think it will come too quickly for him but he's done well and hopefully he'll be available next week,” Moyes added.

Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger: “F*** Off” Abuse Against Refs – Who Cares?

Friday February 4 2011,
Tags: Arsenal, Everton, Cesc Fabregas, Arsene Wenger
No player should be banned for accusing referees with the F-word, Arsenal’s Wenger believes. Fabregas was involved in a player vs referee clash earlier this week and Wenger has defended the Arsenal skipper.
Arsenal’s English Premier League match against Everton was marked by controversy as the Gunners were 1-0 down at half time through Louis Saha’s blatant offside goal. In the tunnel, Captain Cesc Fabregas reportedly accused Everton players of bribing referee Lee Mason.

David Moyes then slammed the Spaniard for having said disrespectful comments to the match official which he “would not even repeat”. According to the Everton boss, Fabregas should have been flashed the red card for his attitude.

But Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger thinks that even the F-word abuse told by players against referees shouldn’t be punished. As he defended the Arsenal skipper, Wenger told The Sun:

Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas: Nothing Serious Happened In Tunnel Against Everton

Wednesday February 2 2011,
Tags: Cesc Fabregas, Arsenal, Everton, Premier League
Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas has admitted that he was involved in a discussion with the referee during the half-time interval of the Gunner’s game against Everton, but insisted that ‘nothing serious happened’.
Fabregas showed signs of fury when his side went down 1-0 following what looked like a controversial goal from Everton’s Luis Saha. The Spaniard was convinced that the goal was offside, and thus made his complaints to Referee Lee Mason, who obviously did not reverse his decision to allow the goal.

This caused Fabregas to follow the referee in the tunnel at half-time, making all efforts to justify his point; but his action was rather judged as inacceptable by the Everton manager David Moyes. Coach Arsene Wenger initially denied that Cesc had even spoken to the referee at the break, but the Arsenal midfielder came out with a brighter version of the story.

Steven Pienaar is officially no longer an Everton player. The South African star turned down an offer from Chelsea to sign for Tottenham Hotspur - it was revealed earlier today through his Twitter account.
A few days ago, Pienaar was the target of both Londoners. But the Blues were unable to meet the personal demands of the player, which eventually gave Tottenham the advantage in their transfer race for the midfielder. Finalizing all conjectures on his transfer saga, Pienaar tweeted: “To end speculation, I am going to Spurs. I've had brilliant years at Everton and it will always be a special place in my heart. I can also confirm I'll be jersey number 40.”

Football Transfer News: Spurs Hijack Chelsea’s Steven Pienaar Bid

Tuesday January 18 2011,
Tags: Chelsea, Transfer, Steven Pienaar, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton
Shocking transfer news from London has hit the headlines; Spurs have hijacked Chelsea’s transfer bid for Steven Pienaar’s signature. It now looks like the Everton star is heading to White Hart Lane...
Football and its game of money make an incredible world, indeed. In just a matter of hours, Chelsea have been replaced by Tottenham Hotspur as the favourites to grab Steven Pienaar from Everton. Statements from Coach David Moyes besides reports from English magazine The Sun explained that Chelsea’s £3M bid had been accepted by the Toffees whereas Spurs chances of luring Pienaar had faded away.

Harry Redknapp had also commentated on this transfer issue, saying that “it would make it difficult for Spurs to compete with that money” for the player as “Everton have agreed a fee with Chelsea for £3M which is probably a bit more that what Tottenham Hotspur had set”. However, like a miracle, Darren Bent’s shocking soon-to-be-completed transfer from Sunderland to Aston Villa appears to have settled the matter in favour of Harry Redknapp’s side.

Liverpool vs Everton: The Points Are Important, Not Emotions – Dalglish

Friday January 14 2011,
Tags: Kenny Dalglish, Liverpool, Everton, Premier League
Liverpool’s caretaker manager Kenny Dalglish knows how big his side’s task is against the Toffees in the Liverpool vs Everton Premier League game, this Sunday.
Dalglish has yet to impose himself in the club in terms of results, with still not win in his name since his return at Anfield—despite having led the Reds to 2 games, which both ended in defeats. The Liverpool stadium is expected to be packed with several thousands of loyal supporters attracted by the derby, but Dalglish is aware that supporters at Anfield are likely to spread more anxiety in the atmosphere than strong support.

The coach however realizes that letting emotions conquer his players will not help the team’s situation in any way. What is needed now is a crucial triumph which could eventually give them back their strength to gather the rest of their opportunities left this season.

Carlos Tevez attitude recently surely doesn’t help coach Roberto Mancini who appointed the player as Manchester City’s captain at the beginning of the season.

Reports claim that the Italian manager will soon strip Tevez of his role as a skipper. However, this is not supposed to be the issue ahead of tonight’s crunch match at home to Everton.

Roberto Mancini wants Manchester City fans to think about doing what needs to be done in their capacity to push the club to victory against the Toffees.

Everton vs. Manchester United Match Preview

Tags: English Premier League, Everton, Manchester United
Everton hope to climb as high as fifth in the table, but injuries and suspensions to midfielders are cause for concern; Manchester United will likely need the three points to stay on pace with leaders Chelsea.

Everton's Maroane Fellaini is out for the seasonEverton’s top five pretentions have taken a serious blow with the loss of Marouane Fellaini for the remainder of the season. The lanky Belgian injured his ankle last week in a challenge with Sotirios Kyrgiakos, Liverpool’s big Greek center-back.

Kyrgiakos was red carded for the incident, the referee judging that the Liverpool man had gone into the challenge two-footed. Yet, although replays show the challenge was an awkward one, it didn’t look malicious. Fellaini’s response, on the other hand, looked decidedly mean-spirited. He appeared to stamp on the Greek defender and in so doing injured his ankle. The red card could have gone Fellaini’s way. And perhaps should have! Whatever his intent, the Belgian is now out for the season.

Another Merseyside derby looms. Liverpool won the previous fixture 0-2 at Goodison Park. Both sides are on a good run of form. And both seek financial windfall that European competition next season could bring. (But that’s beside the point on derby day.)

Liverpool's Dirk Kuyt scored against BoltonLiverpool picked up three vital points last weekend in their 2-0 victory over Bolton at Anfield, thus gaining ground on Tottenham, who only managed a point against Birmingham City.

The Premier League’s fourth place finisher gets a Champions League berth and with only two points currently separating the four contenders, this weekend’s fixtures may have far-reaching consequences. Going into the weekend the Reds are in fifth place, just a point behind Spurs. Sixth place is held by Manchester City who lag behind Liverpool only on goal difference. In seventh place is Aston Villa.

For Liverpool, however, a win is more than just a potential fourth place and Champions League entry. It is Everton they play, and a win over the Toffees reestablishes what the red side of Liverpool sees as the proper order of the universe.
