France went head to head with Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday in a crucial UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying clash on Tuesday.
France held a one-point lead over second placed Bosnia and Herzegovina at the top of Group D, and the winner of this game in Paris would seal automatic qualification.

When all was said and done the French would seal qualification to their ninth successive major tournament courtesy of a 1-1 draw. The game would have a distinct Manchester City influence, as club teammates Edin Dzeko and Samir Nasri would score both goals.

Bosnia started quickest and Senad Lulic dispossessed Anthony Reveillere only to fire into the side netting. France hit back but Loic Remy was unable to convert after being sent one on one with goalkeeper Kenan Hasagic.

Manchester City Reassert Domestic Dominance after European Disappointment

Manchester City returned to Premier League play this past weekend with an emphatic 4-0 destruction of Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.
Rovers defended stoutly for almost an hour, before Adam Johnson opened the scoring with a spectacular curling effort to give City a 1-0 lead. Mario Balotelli doubled the City lead three minutes later when he volleyed home Samir Nasri’s cross.

Nasri himself got on the score sheet in the 73rd minute, before defender Stefan Savic iced the game with an 87th minute header.

The win leaves City behind league leaders Manchester United on goal difference alone, and will have raised morale after what had been a turbulent week.

On Tuesday night City traveled to Germany and were convincingly beaten 2-0 by Bayern Munich. A Mario Gomez brace handed City defeat and there was clearly a gulf in class between the two teams on the night.

Bayern Munich 2 Manchester City 0: Roberto Mancini Shows Excellent Leadership Dealing With Carlos Tevez Tantrum

Wednesday September 28 2011,
Tags: Manchester CIty, Carlos Tevez, Roberto Mancini, Edin Dzeko
Manchester City fell 2-0 at Bayern Munich in UEFA Champions League Group A play, but manager Roberto Mancini showed excellent leadership in a difficult time.
City started brightly against in-form Bayern, and had two penalty appeals waved away in the first half. With seven minutes remaining in the half, Mario Gomez put Bayern Munich in front when he turned home the rebound after a Joe Hart save.

During injury time at the end of the first half, Hart produced another save only for Gomez to pounce once more and give Bayern a 2-0 lead.

City could not find a way though in the second half, and Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko let their own personal emotions and egos take center stage. Roberto Mancini did an excellent job of keeping the focus on the group over the individual.

Premier League Sharp-shooters: Wayne Rooney’s On Fire!

In an early season run of record-breaking for his team, Wayne Rooney, Saturday, became only the fourth player in history to record back-to-back hat-tricks in Premier League football, emulating the feats of Les Ferdinand, Ian Wright and Didier Drogba before him.

Premier League Sharp-shooters: Manchester United's Wayne Rooney is on fire! Rooney’s treble also took him onto 125 PL career goals, leapfrogging over Nicolas Anelka and Robbie Keane, two of only four current players who prior to Saturday, had been above him in the list.  Frank Lampard (140) and club-mate Michael Owen (149) are now firmly in his sights.

The Croxteth-born striker is now #10 in the all-time PL top-scorers list, but has still got some way to go to match the 260 PL goals scored by former England captain Alan Shearer for Blackburn Rovers & Newcastle United. At 25 though, time is on his side.

With Rooney’s already burgeoning reputation growing apace with his new hair, United have set the standard for the rest to follow this term.

Premier League Sharp-shooters: Dzeko Sets The Pace on Week 3

He was a mis-firing striker for much of his time at Manchester City last season, but Edin Dzeko has put all behind him with a blistering start to the 19th English Premier League season.
Dzeko took his tally to 6 in three games, while players from no fewer than 13 countries hit the target over the weekend. As Manchester United’s winning margin in the last game of the weekend eclipsed City’s over Tottenham, there was also a hat-trick for Wayne Rooney, the 6th of his Old Trafford career.

Only three current players have scored more Premier League goals than Rooney, but that may soon change with the Croxteth-born striker now on 122, just one behind Chelsea’s Nicolas Anelka. After Anelka, the next man in Rooney’s sights is the Frenchman’s Chelsea team-mate Frank Lampard, who made it 140 career goals in the Premiership with a vital penalty conversion in the Blues win over a spirited Norwich City.

Edin Dzeko is all fired up for the FA Cup final this weekend after he stated that he wants to help City end their trophy drought
Manchester City have lived in the shadows of Manchester United for a very long time now and the Citizens have not experienced cup success for almost 35 years now. However, Roberto Mancini's side have a chance to end that barren spell this weekend when they take on Stoke City in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

City's January signing, Edin Dzeko might not have impressed many with his performances so far but the Bosnian striker is absolutely ecstatic ahead of the final clash with Stoke City after he insisted that he is very much motivated to help Manchester City win the FA Cup on Sunday.

Thursday March 10 2011,
Tags: Edin Dzeko, Andriy Shevchenko
The Dynamo Kyiv vs Manchester City UEFA Europa League fixture will offer the public a special duel as Edin Dzeko is set to meet his childhood idol, Shevchenko.
We don’t always have strong views as kids. And if sometimes, they are, they can change through the seasons depending on circumstances. That’s exactly the case for Edin Dzeko who had 2004 Ballon d’Or winner Andriy Shevchenko as his childhood idol.

Dzeko is one of the few lucky Bosnians to have made it this far in world football; perhaps, the Manchester City striker would thank Shevchenko for inspiring him on his road to the top. But now that Edin Dzeko has fulfilled his dream of playing in the English Premier League – which is regarded by many as the best league in the world, he has no intention of emulating the Ukrainian.

Will Manchester City ever get rid of their big-money transfer habit? The new transfer rumour in the news is that Edin Dzeko is on Man City’s radar as Wolfsburg play the game of business...
Since a year especially, Edin Dzeko has been a target for big clubs during transfer windows. Real Madrid and Arsenal were thought to be very interested in securing the services of the Bosniac last summer. This winter, however, Manchester City are plotting to beat any other contender for the signing of Wolfsburg’s Dzeko.

This week, coach Steve McClaren heated this transfer rumour by affirming that the Wolfsburg striker may well leave the club anytime soon. ESPN Soccernet quoted the manager as saying:

“We hope that Edin stays, because he’s a world-class striker. But, we’re in the business of football and nothing is 100% certain. We will have to see what happens.”
