Carlo Ancelotti has apparently given up on the English Premier League title. The Italian boss says that it is more realistic to think about qualifying for the Champions League, only.

“Now for us, it is difficult to think that we can come back and fight for the Premier League title,” the Chelsea coach told reporters as the Blues are looking to recover from last weekend’s defeat to Liverpool.
“The gap is very big, we have to be honest. But the most important thing is to reach fourth place in the table to maintain Chelsea in the Champions League
“ And we have to fight with the other teams,” Ancelotti added as Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and now Liverpool look dangerous.
“It is better for us to take it game by game in the Premier League. But, we have to reach fourth place as a minimum.”
So-called coward Fernando Torres has vowed not to celebrate should he score a goal in Sunday’s Chelsea vs Liverpool. The Spaniard claims to love Chelsea but still respect the KOP.

“First, I have to play. And then, I have to score,” Fernando Torres told the media during a press conference as he prepares to make his Chelsea debut this weekend.
“But, I have big respect for Liverpool fans, so I don’t think I’ll celebrate. I only have good things to say about Liverpool people.”
Meanwhile, with more than 24 hours to go before the Chelsea vs Liverpool game kicks off, Carlo Ancelotti hasn’t made any decision regarding the inclusion of Fernando Torres in the team’s starting XI. However, the Blues manager is certain that the £50M signing will feature on Sunday after missing Chelsea’s 4-2 win away to Sunderland earlier in the week.
Fernando Torres is yet to play for the Blues but could do so in this weekend’s Chelsea vs Liverpool match. Carlo Ancelotti can’t wait for the Spaniard to team up with Didier Drogba upfront.

Fernando Torres, who was captured by Chelsea on the last day of the transfer window, is considered as one of football’s best strikers in the world. The ex-Liverpool star now carries a mammoth £50M price tag on his shoulders and he is expected to deliver good performances and goals.
His first test, coincidentally, is set to be Sunday’s super Chelsea vs Liverpool clash at Stamford Bridge. The home fans will have the honour of seeing Fernando Torres, whom they used to despise so much because of his previous Red identity, as the player will be making his debut in a blue shirt.
AS Roma are reportedly on the verge of welcoming American ownership. Roma need a change and transfer rumours have now linked Chelsea’s Carlo Ancelotti to the club’s hot list for managers.

Italian magazine La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that Thomas Richard Di Benedetto, an Italo-American business, is very close to completing an agreement with AS Roma’s creditors UniCredit. This deal will see the Giallorossi enter into a new era as they look forward to improve their financial condition.
At the moment, for example, AS Roma have to share the Stadio Olimpico with Lazio but they are now thinking of building their very own stadium – and this is a project that could be kick-started with the arrival of new owners. Another major change that AS Roma will reportedly take is on the managerial front.
Prior to the Chelsea vs Ipswich game, former assistant coach Ray Wilkins has reproached Chelsea players for their lack of confidence on the field—setting this defect as the reason behind their poor season.

Chelsea have been having negative results in the Premier League lately, which have seen them slip from the pole position to the fifth place in the table. Their 9-point gap separating them from leaders Manchester United has forced them to turn their attention on other cups; but a restoration will be needed as soon as possible, otherwise they could miss out in other contests.
Chelsea face Ipswich in the FA Cup today at the Stamford Bridge, but looking at their deep weakness presently, it is hard to regard them as the favorites to win the match. Ray Wilkins—who was once the man behind Carlo Ancelotti—accepts that Chelsea’s current form is not normal, but believes that something can be done to get them back to winning ways.
Following Chelsea’s discomforting 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers yesterday, Coach Carlo Ancelotti has confessed that Chelsea might not retain their Premier League title this season.

Chelsea were hoping to get their feet on the ground through what was supposed to be an “easy game” against Wolves. For the Blues however, it was a serious matter, as the “painless” fixture was loaded with profound expectations.
Indeed, Chelsea needed 3 precious points to get back on track—but in the end, it was the lowly side who snatched an excruciating victory. Ironically, it was not the hosts’ own efforts which gave them their reward, but rather a mistake from the Chelsea defense.
An own goal from Portuguese right-back Jose Bosingwa after only 5 minutes at the Molineux Stadium happened to decide the game at the expense of the dying giants. This loss therefore places Chelsea 9 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester United, who have a game less in the standings.
Chelsea’s Carlo Ancelotti avoided the sack in December despite a torrid run of results which is yet to end. Amazingly, the Italian didn’t suffer execution as the majority of Chelsea fans have been calling for.

It’s not at any big club like Chelsea that a coach can afford to misguide his team match-day by match-day without facing the boiling frustration of its owners before subsequently being dismissed. In London, however, there is a 51-year-old man who has managed to keep hold of his prestigious coaching position despite falling victim to this poor record: 5 defeats and 4 draws in the club’s last 12 matches in all competitions as well as 20 points dropped from a possible 30 since the beginning of November in the English Premier League!
His name is Carlo Ancelotti – also sarcastically known by some angry Chelsea supporters as the man who’s incompetence has been revealed since Ray Wilkins departure from Stamford Bridge. Fact: From the top of the English Premier League table where they were enjoying quite a comfortable lead at the beginning of the season, the Blues have dropped down onto 5th in the standings.
The January transfer window is now open and Chelsea’s desperate coach Carlo Ancelotti wants his side to get active on the market. New signings might make the trick for the Blues, Ancelotti believes.

Chelsea’s 1-0 win against Bolton in their last English Premier League match of the year 2010 didn’t signify the end of troubles for the domestic champions. In fact, it only marked the Blues’ second victory in 9 EPL games which couldn’t follow with another triumph at home to Aston Villa last Sunday.
Against the Villains, Chelsea were on the brink of clinching a vital win to break back into the top four. However, more disappointment saw them stumble to a last gasp equalizer as they had to settle for a 3-3 draw and a single point at the end of proceedings.
Chelsea fans are getting loud again following the Blues’ 1-0 victory over Bolton on Wednesday night which put to an end the team’s winless run of six straight matches. But does it mean that Chelsea are back in the English Premier League?

It looks like it is too early for Blues supporters to boast about having the last laugh in midweek by comparing Chelsea’s 1-0 victory against Bolton to Manchester United and Arsenal’s draw against Birmingham City and Wigan Athletic respectively. There is still a long way to go in the English Premier League, and the title’s defending champions need to think of cleaning up the 4-point gap that separates them from current league leaders Man United.
Besides, the Red Devils could even create a 7-point lead above fourth placed Chelsea as they have played one game less than the Blues who have reached the 19-match-day mark in the competition. Yes, confidence is a key element to success, but being realistic is also another thing that surely needs to be considered – more by pilots like Carlo Ancelotti than by ecstatic fans who will permit themselves to believe that Chelsea are truly back on track and just about to experience nothing but success in the second part of the season.
Manchester City's Roberto Mancini and Chelsea's Carlo Ancelotti have added their voices to those who are calling for the English Premier League to allow winter breaks...

Whereas footballers in Europe’s top leagues benefit from a winter break annually after a long year of work, players in the English Premier League must think of duplicating their efforts on the pitch as the fixtures list gets packed by the end of December.
Chelsea, for example, will have to play away to Arsenal and at home to Bolton in the space of 48 hours whereas they have 4 matches coming up in total between December 27 and January 5. The situation is the same for Manchester City (like for all English Premier League contenders) who must face Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Blackpool and Arsenal inside 10 days.
No more Ray Wilkins for Chelsea, no more success. But the Blues still have another chance to prove themselves in the Chelsea vs Manchester United match in the Premier League, at the weekend.
Chelsea And Ray Wilkins: It's Over
Sacking Ray was in fact a strange and unjustifiable decision from the Chelsea board. On the morning of Wilkins’ “sad day”—according to the Guardian—the former English midfielder was absolutely unaware of the shock that was going to take place. Apparently, the decision had already been approved during crucial talks between manager Carlo Ancelotti and chief executive Ron Gourlay.
The first glimpses of the verdict however reached Wilkins while he was watching a lunchtime training-ground friendly match from Chelsea’s reserves on November 11—and purportedly—he was called to meet with Gourlay. It was then that Ray knew he had to leave the club immediately, following the club’s refusal to keep him as their first team assistant manager.
Chelsea return to the Luzhniki Stadium to face Spartak Moskva in the Champions League tonight. Will the venue and the pitch give Ancelotti’s men the blues?

Chelsea and Spartak Moskva have 6 points in Group F and they both stand an opportunity to all but seal their passage into the Round of 16. Despite being without Drogba and Lampard for this important match, the Blues are still superior to their opponents on paper.
However, Tuesday’s home side could benefit from the spirit of the Luzhniki Stadium and eventually play the trick against the visitors, Chelsea.
How can anyone forget about what happened in Russia three seasons ago when the London club was a spot kick away from clinching European glory for the first time ever? Who isn’t aware of the terrible fate that swallowed the Blues at the Luzhniki Stadium in May 2008?
Chelsea have lost twice on the trot lately and negative criticism has eventually started to flow. However, Carlo Ancelotti is relaxed ahead of their Champions League match against Olympique Marseille.
The Italian manager will be without the injured Frank Lampard who is still on the sidelines with a groin problem. As a result, Carlo Ancelotti might be forced to fill inexperience players like he did in the Blues’ 4-3 defeat to Newcastle in the Carling Cup last week. However, this issue doesn’t bother him the least. Speaking to The Sun, the Chelsea coach boldly declared:
“One minute, people are telling me that my squad is full of old players. Now, they say we are too young and that we have no experience.
“It’s normal to have two or three injuries in the season, and this isn’t a problem for us. Obviously, it’s more important to have experience in the squad.
Carlo Ancelotti has been given the task of leading this Chelsea team to their first ever Champions League trophy.
On Tuesday, the Blues will be at Stamford Bridge for a difficult game against the 2004 UEFA Champions League winners Porto FC.
Will Carlo Ancelotti pass the test?
Kicking off the European season in style is something that will come as a great relief to every Chelsea fan. After losing out on penalties against Manchester United in the final of the competition in 2008, Roman Abrahamovic was left completely broken.
