Laurent Blanc led France to a deserved win against Albania on Friday night at the Stade de France.
News about Bosnia & Herzegovina’s trouncing of Luxembourg put Les Bleus under pressure early on. Thankfully for the home crowd, the French responded quite well to their demands.

The inclusion of Gomis, Patrice Evra, Florent Malouda and Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri in Laurent Blanc’s lineup increased France’s chances of beating the Albanians who eventually were second-best throughout the match.

Cabaye was unlucky enough to see his 25-yard strike fly just wide. It was Florent Malouda who broke the deadlock. He opened the scoring with a deflected shot of which the cross came through the efforts of Remy.

Laurent Blanc’s men are expected to record their third consecutive victory on home soil against Albania.

Argentina are under a bit of pressure ahead of tonight’s warm-up game at home to Albania. The 2011 Copa America hosts have lost their last two friendly matches and time’s running out for boss Sergio Batista to multiply the confidence in the hearts of the Albicelestes’ supporters who aim to see the Copa America trophy remain in Argentina.

One remark, however, is that the team that suffered dreadful results against Nigeria and Poland during the first week of June was made of U-25 players based in Europe. That said, it is only on Monday night that Sergio Batista will be able to give a much clearer idea of how the Albicelestes will really perform during the 2011 Copa America competition.

Europe’s Brazil, Portugal, face a difficult mission in their bid to qualify to the finals of the World Cup in South Africa.

A Seleccao are on the brink of missing out from the World Cup in 2010 after a string of poor results left them third in Group A, with only six points out of five games and seven points behind joint leaders Denmark and Hungary.

Carlos Queiroz hasn’t managed to guide Portugal to a successful run of matches so far and unfortunately for the team, victories come in friendly games rather than in competitive encounters.
