South Korea has joined the handful of teams that have publicly released their roster for the 2014 World Cup.

Korea, who became the first Asian team to reach the quarter-finals back in 2002, will be appearing in their ninth tournament, the most of any side on the continent.

However, in the past two World Cups, they were unable to replicate the same form they had shown while co-hosting the quadrennial sporting event, with a group stage exit in 2006 and departing during the round of 16 in 2010.

Hence, as one of just two teams representing Asia this time around, they'll definitely be hoping to have a better run in Brazil against fellow group members Belgium, Algeria, and Russia.

Leverkusen star Son Heung-min is probably the most familiar name on the list to fans outside Asia, and given his good form in the Bundesliga, the 21-year-old will definitely be feeling the pressure to help his side get out of the group stages.

Son Heung-min has put on some good showings for Leverkusen, but can he do the same for his country?

The small island nation will be hoping their side have a good run this time in Brazil

Former defender Hong Myung-bo, who won the first ever medal for Korea at the 2012 Olympic Games, has selected his 23 from a range of leagues around the world.
