The Argentine was delighted with the character and spirit his side showed in beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Aletico Madrid took another significant step in what has been one of their best season in recent years. The Rojiblancos are not only competing for La Liga title on the domestic shore but, after Wednesday night, they now have a 50/50 shot at clinching the Champions League title after setting up a final meeting with Real Madrid.

As a result of that, the Liga BBVA leader's Argentine manager Diego Simeone says he is grateful towards the team, the fans, the players, and the players' mothers, saying thank you for “giving birth to them with balls that big.”

When speaking to Canal Plus, the Madrid team's boss said: "it was a beautiful, important moment, but what makes me happier is to reach the final for the people who paid a lot of money to come here. The reaction of the team will remain in the memories of the fans.”

And when talking about the game at Stamford Bridge, and the Champions League final date with Los Blancos in Lisbon, Simeone added this:

“Our first goal was important and the start of the second half was very good. I don't think it's an advantage or disadvantage [to face Real]. We know them from the league, they are a powerful club and are accustomed to these situations."
