Liverpool will continue battling for the title as they face relegation favorites Norwich City in a Premier League encounter on Sunday, the 20th of April.

Preview: Suarez poised to shine as Reds face Norwich

The Uruguayan international is the league’s top scorer having scored 29 goals so far and considering his goal scoring antics against his counterparts on Sunday, the former Ajax man could verily overtake Alan Shearer and Cristiano Ronaldo as the player to have scored the most goals in a single season in a 38 match Premier League format.

The 27 year old has scored 11 times against the canaries in just four appearances and should he score a hat-trick against the Yellows at Carrow Road, it will be his third successive at the stadium.

It has been goals galore whenever the two sides have met in recent times. All of the last three meetings between the two sides have ended with the Reds scoring five goals against the canaries and since 2012, Liverpool have scored 18 goals against their counterparts in just four games.

Needless to say considering Liverpool’s current form as well as the history of the fixture, Norwich might be subjected to another mauling on Sunday. Brendan Rodger’s men ensured the league’s was theirs to lose after defeating  Manchester City at Anfield last time out.

A breath taking encounter kicked off with a terrific goal from youngster Raheem Sterling only in the sixth minute, a lead which was doubled by Martin Skrtel 20 minutes later. However City came with all guns blazing in the second half and a quick double fire allowed them to gain momentum. Liverpool on the other hand never gave up and capitalized on a Vincent Kompany error which not just allowed them to take control of the match but also put them in the driving seat for the Premier League title.

Captain Steven Gerrard has been instrumental to Liverpool’s success this season and has produced a string of consistent performances despite his growing age. The 33 year who has spent his entire playing career at the club without winning a league title has received acclamation from the entire footbaling world including his manager Brendan Rodgers who claims that the midfielder is arguably the best in his role in Europe right now.

"We mustn't forget that he's arguably the best in European football in a controlling role at this moment in time,” Rodgers said.

"There's not many players who can do what he can do - be one of the best attacking midfield players in Europe and then switch to be arguably the best controlling player.

"You look at the holding players in European football now at the top teams, I wouldn't swap him for any of them, because of what he can give the team.

"He's a playmaker but he's unique in that he can also defend. I think what he probably doesn't get enough credit for as well is his reading of the game.”

The Reds are undefeated in the league in 2014 and should they notch all three points on Sunday they will make a new club record of 11 straight Premier League wins surpassing the 10 wins set by the Liverpool side managed by Rafa Benitez in the 2005-06 season.

Norwich on the other hand have conflicting ambitions as the Canaries hope to secure their place in the Premier League. The Yellows are currently 17th and have a slender two point advantage over 18th placed Fulham who occupy the final relegation spot. Fulham’s defeat against Tottenham on Saturday implies that should the canaries score an unlikely win over Liverpool over the weekend, they can go five points clear of the  Cottagers.

New manager Neil Adams, will be hoping to revel in his first home game at Norwich after suffering a loss in his managerial debut when his side slumped to a 1-0 defeat against Fulham last time out.
Adams will however have to do without defender Joseph Yobo as well as midfielder Elliot Bennett with the duo sidelined due to injuries, however the latter is expected to make his return soon.

Liverpool on the other hand will be without important players with Jordan Henderson suspended for the next three games after receiving a red card in the match against Manchester City. Daniel Sturridge on the other hand is a major doubt for the match and even though Brendan Rodgers has hinted that the 24 year old might recover in time, he might be saved for next week’s blockbuster fixture against Chelsea.
