Young German star Julian Draxler is set for a stay at German sides Schalke, according to his agent. Roger Wittman, the player's agent, has stated that the highly-rated youngster is optimistic about the future of his current team, saying he sees Draxler staying at Schalke even beyond the next season.

Julian Draxler was heavily tipped to be joining the Gunners on the January transfer window of 2013 after being scouted several times by the London side. The die Knappen ace's release clause was even speculated to have been triggered but an overseas move never materialized in time and he remained at Germany. And even though Arsenal are reportedly preparing a summer bid, the agent of Draxler thinks even "an awful lot" can't guarantee his departure.

When speaking to Sport Bild, Draxler's agent said: "why should a player leave the club if the club have just built a top team? I also think it's good if players stick to what they have signed.”

"It would take an awful lot to happen for one of the two [Draxler or Jefferson Farfan] to leave. And even then I'm not sure it would be possible. The players understand that there is currently a lot of peace at the club and a lot of optimism about their future there."

Schalke's chairman Clemens Torries further strengthened these reports, saying: "if nothing extraordinary happens, Julian will stay with us. I am convinced that he will play even longer than this one next season at Schalke. Then we will see"
