Atletico Madrid played Getafe in a La Liga game on Sunday, a game that would have seen the Madrid side increase their lead at the top to three points if they won, due to Barcelona losing their respective fixture. And win Atletico did, but it came at a cost.

Atletico Madrid talisman and Golden Boot chaser Diego Costa suffered a nasty injury during the game as he had collided with the post while scoring his side's second goal. This collision inflected a big cut on the players leg, causing him to be stretchered off the game, to the panic of all Los Rojiblancos fans and players alike.

With worries over a possible lenghty sideline, Atletico Madrid were quick to play down his injuries, saying that all was well and that his injury isn't as bad as previously thought, with manager Diego Simeone also adding: "Diego (Costa) is well and he is fine. One more cut won't do anything to this tiger."

With worries over Costa's injuries on a high, Atletico Madrid said on Twiiter: "Luckily Diego Costa has only one injury after hitting the post."

Fellow Atletico player Filipe Luis shared Atletico's relief in Costa's injury news, saying: "It's all good with Diego Costa, just a scare."

With Atletico Madrid three points ahead of closest rivals Real Madrid, and with only five games remaining in the La Liga, Los Rojiblancos will be looking to get their start attacker back up and running as soon as possible.
