Goodison Park will be loud and ready to see their side battle for a Champions League spot against Arsenal. Watch this match live on NBCSN, with kickoff set for 8:30 ET.

Preview: Both sides battle for Champions League football

Toffees and Gunners square off at Goodison Park on Sunday; with both clubs aiming for a top four finish. Everton are just four points back of Arsenal, but also have a game in hand.

Winless in their last fourteen attempts against the North London side, Roberto Martinez’s men will have to put in a solid performance if they want to change that streak. The last time Everton defeated Arsene Wenger’s side was in March of 2007.

On Sunday, the three points up for grabs will feel like more than that. A victory for the hosts would put them one point back of Arsenal, with a game in hand. That could see Wenger’s side fall out of the top four if Everton were to win their game in hand.

For Arsenal, qualifying for the Champions League is extremely important. With a win at Goodison Park, they can distance themselves from the Toffees, allowing them a little more cushion heading into the final stretch of the season.

The visitors will be boosted by the return of Aaron Ramsey.

Having been out of the squad due to injury since Boxing Day, the Welsh international is finally fit and could get a few minutes on the pitch Sunday. Getting Ramsey back to match fitness levels will be ideal, with an FA Cup semifinal match in just seven days.

Roberto Martinez will not be too concerned with the return of Ramsey. With the way his squad has been performing, they will all be confident of their own play.

James McCarthy and Gareth Barry have formed an incredible duo in the center of the park, and they will once again be out to stop a very creative Arsenal midfield.

Romelu Lukaku will also be out to spoil the day for his fellow countryman, Thomas Vermaelen. The Arsenal captain will go head-to-head with the Everton striker, and he will once again get a chance to show off his talents to Arsene Wenger.

Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny have been the regulars at the back for Arsenal, but with the Frenchman picking up an injury, Vermaelen has had chances to shine over the last weeks.

He will need another solid performance if he is going to keep Lukaku off the score sheet.

Neither side will want to commit the first mistake, allowing this to shape up as a tactical battle. A defeat for Arsenal would really put a top four finish in jeopardy. As for Everton a defeat does not necessarily put them out of the race for a Champions League spot, but it certainly will make things more difficult.
