The new winners of the Bundesliga will line up to take on Hoffenheim ahead of a crucial week in Europe.

Preview: Will Bayern Go For the Jugular against Hoffenheim?

Bayern has already created history by becoming the first team in the history of the German top flight to win the title with seven games in hand. A great indicator, as many in the press have pointed out, about how impressive Bayern has been this season is simply the weather. The temperatures still remain low across the country; no team has secured the Bundesliga title when temperatures have been close to zero.

Pep Guardiola, as we have come to learn in his days at Bayern, is quite the perfectionist. He is not prepared to let his team simply move casually through the remaining seven matches. However, he will know more than anybody, that his side can now focus on the two other competitions, the DFB Pokal and the UEFA Champions League. Bayern is trying to defend their crowns on those two fronts.

Also, an interesting point of note from Guardiola’s rather serene press conference following the title triumph was Uli Hoeness. Hoeness has been at the site of every triumph of his team since his playing days in the 1970. His empty seat cast a rather dark shadow on what was definitely a happy occasion. As a sidenote, Bastian Schweinsteiger claimed his seventh Bundesliga title. He is the youngest ever player to do so.

Bayern is set to take on a side which knows no middle ground. Hoffenheim’s attack is the second best in the league behind Bayern; they have scored a staggering 60 goals in 27 fixtures, including putting six past Wolfsburg. However, they have the worst defence in the league, having conceded 59 times! Hoffenheim’s fans are always promised plenty of excitement regardless of the result.

Hoffenheim’s sporting director has decided that his side will indeed compete against Bayern rather than throw in the towel. This is what Alexander Rosen had to say to Bayern’s official website:

“We’ve taken our decision: we’re going to turn up for the game.”

Bayern will be coming into this game with a full squad to choose from aside from Holger Badstuber of course. Boris Vukcevic continues to be on the sidelines following a horrendous car accident in which he almost lost his life more than a year ago. Sven Schipplock is a doubt for this one as well.

Pep Guardiola has surprised the fans this season by fielding different teams for different games. He has vowed to continue searching for perfection; with Man United on the horizon, will Pep experiment or rest his best players for midweek?
