Roma will soon be following in the footsteps of Juventus in having their own brand new stadium.

The Giallorossi currently share the Stadio Olimpico with city rivals Lazio, but plans are already underway to begin on building a 52,000 seater (with expansion up to 60,000) that president James Pallotta believes will become an "icon" in the nation's capital.

A nod to Ancient Rome and the Colosseum:

In addition to the pitch, the complex will also contain other features such as bars, restaurants, training-facility and shops. The lavish complex, which is being called the Stadio della Roma (Roma Stadium) for now, could be open as early as the 2016-2017 season.

Stunning: The Giallorossi could be playing here in just a few years

A architectural model of how the structure will look when completed

And although club icon and captain Francesco Totti will probably have hung up his boots by then, the 37-year-old, who celebrated 700 appearances with the capital club had this to say about the upcoming new structure:

"This will be our new home...what I especially like is the garden in the center and we must continue to write the history of our club [here]."

Legend: Totti may not have a chance to play in the new stadium, but will probably be some kind of ambassador
