Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood says his players are behind him after the North London side exited the Europa League. They drew 2-2 with Benfica in Portugal knowing they needed a 3-1 victory, at the very least, to push the game into a tie and thus extra-time.
This however was not meant to be as the North London side crashed out in the round of 16.
These comments of the manager's come after he had previously accused his players and squad of “lacking guts” when they lost to London rivals Chelsea 4-0 in the English Premier League.
"It's evident the players are on my side. My little rant has done them no harm," said Sherwood.
"They have showed character and guts and they need to do that until the end of the season and I'm confident they will do that."

The Spurs manager also hailed Tottenham's travelling fans, saying:
“The team who scores most deserves to go through but the 3,000 Tottenham supporters must be proud of what they saw. They stuck behind us and travelled in numbers and likewise the boys put on a performance which they can be proud of."
This is the third competition Tottenham have been knocked out of following their FA Cup and Capital One Cup exits this seson.
