The Viola and the Bianconeri go head to head for the third time in ten days. With a slim advantage, can Vincenzo Montella's men defeat the Turin side again?

Preview: Viola will be hoping to get the best of the Bianconeri in their third consecutive meeting

Only one side in Serie A has defeated Juventus all season--Fiorentina--back on mach day eight on 20th October. And this feat was accomplished at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, something that will be on the back of the players' minds as they attempt to keep their European campaign alive against a side that will be keen to knock them out of the competition once and for all.

Of course, heading into the match, Juventus coach Antonio Conte attempted to diffuse any pressure on the league leaders, noting that, "there's no pressure on us to win the Europa League because our real place is in the Champions League." But with the final set to be in Turin this May, obviously the reigning Scudetto champions would very much like to be one of those sides contesting the trophy in front of their own fans.

Conte will be without both defender Andrea Barzagli, a key part of his back-three alongside Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini; hence Uruguayan international Martin Caceres will be expected to deputize for the stricken Italian. Another Azzurri member, Claudio Marchsio, who has been deployed in a variety of midfield roles this season is also another absentee.

However, given the significance of this tie, he will be expected to use first choice striking pair Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez to lead the Bianconeri's attack. Both strikers have finally settled in with their new team and will be expected to have some sort of impact if la Vecchia Signora would like to move on to the next round.

As for the hosts, they have made the best out of their time in the Europa League, being one of just four teams to complete their group undefeated. Former Bayern Munich hit-man Mario Gomez, the hero for Fiorentina as it was his goal that gave the Viola a vital away strike will again lead the line for Vincenzo Montella's men. He will most likely be supported by former Palermo man Josip Illicic and pacey winger Juan Cuadrado, who is rumoured to be on the wish-list of some of the biggest clubs on the continent.

Gomez will certainly be keen on putting on a good showing, especially with the World Cup just around the corner. Due to injury, he has not featured much for die Mannschaft as he would like and obviously the 28-year-old will have one eye on the countdown to the international tournament as he takes to the field later today with his new team.

For Viola supporters, two things will come to mind: for those a bit older, they will probably recall the 1990 UEFA Cup clash between Juventus and Fiorentina that finished in favour of the Bianconeri 3-1 on aggregate. And second, for all, regardless of age, that on 20 October, they were finally able to beat the Turin powerhouse for the first time in 15 years.

It is certainly a delicately poised tie, that can go either way. Who will emerge victorious after 90 minutes (or more)? Tune in to find out!
