And fans aren't the only ones gushing over the African Player of the Year and all time top scorer for the Ivory Coast.

Iconic attacker Francesco Totti, who has spent his entire career at his beloved Roma and is currently the Giallorossi's leading scorer has expressed his hope that the two veterans could at some point line up together on the pitch.

Possible reunion of the King and the Emperor? Totti would like to see it happen

According to reports in Italy, the capital club are keen on luring Drogba to Serie A for the upcoming season, and it is certainly something that Totti would certainly welcome.

"We need three new signings to improve each of our team's areas", the 2006 World Cup winner stated to Italian publication Il Romanista.

"And could Drogba be one of those signings? Perhaps, as he's still younger than me and you can definitely win things with players like him."

A Totti-Drogba attacking partnership? Sure, both players are approaching 40 but the Ivorian and the Italian have shown over the course of this season that "age ain't nothing but a number".

Serie A fans would certainly welcome him with open arms, but would he consider trying things out in Italy before retiring?
