Karim Benzema was on target in France’s morale-boosting 2-0 victory over the Netherlands. Elsewhere, Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo netted a brace in a 5-1 rout of Samuel Eto’o’s Cameroon. CR7 broke free of retired footballer Pauleta to become his nation’s all-time topscorer with 49 goals.

It’s all looking good for Real Madrid’s stellar forward line. In La Liga, Bale (10) tops Los Blancos’ assists chart whereas Benzema (15) and Ronaldo (23) have more goals between them than Barcelona’s top two highest goalscorers in the league, Sanchez (16) and Messi (15).

However, Levante are not to be taken lightly as they were able to hold Barcelona to a 1-1 draw in La Liga back in January. The underdogs are seriously pushing for a place in Europe next season. Valencia and Sevilla are their closest rivals but with a bit more than 10 rounds of fixtures to go, Levante can rightfully dream about the 2014/15 UEFA Europa League.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are aware that they have not won any major trophy since August 2012. Aside this fact, they were denied from grabbing maximum points at the Vicente Calderon last weekend. They therefore ended Matchday 26 with only a single-point lead.

Since the Spanish giants succumbed to a shocking 1-0 loss away to Levante in September 2011, there have been 20 goals in four meetings between both sides. Los Blancos have won each of these high-scoring games with the latest clash ending in a dramatic 3-2 contest.

Real Madrid’s last clean sheet against Levante happened at the Santiago Bernabeu more than three years ago. Diego Lopez will be happy to keep his lines safe from harm this Sunday.
