Amidst tensions in Ukraine, Tottenham Hotspur will take on a former boss’ side in the UEFA Europa League.

Preview: Can Tim Sherwood’s side pick up an away win against Spurs' former boss, Juando Ramos’ side?

Dnipro has not played a match since losing to ACF Fiorentina in December as their domestic league is on its break. This means they do not have any injuries to worry about. This also means that they lack match practice. Tottenham is on the other end of the spectrum having had several matches in the past two months as the Premier League entered the busiest part of its schedule. Tim Sherwood’s players should not have to worry too much though – they are an expensively assimilated team as Juande Ramos pointed out according to UEFA’s official website:

“Their budget is three of four times bigger than ours. They paid around €30m for Roberto Soldado in the summer and will have a very strong team regardless of who travels to Dnipropetrovsk.”
Ramos of course won the League Cup with Spurs but does not want to dwell on those days any more if his words are to be believed, as noted by UEFA’s official website:

“Only three or four players remain at Tottenham from my time. It's nice to reflect on the League Cup we won, but a lot of time has passed since. I'm focused on other tasks now.”

His Dnipro side has one star who even Tim Sherwood is admittedly a fan of in Yevhen Konoplyanka. Sherwood will not be able to call on Erik Lamela. Emmanuel Adebayor will be a big miss for the coach along with Kyle Walker, Hugo Lloris and Aaron Lennon. Mousa Dembele and Younes Kaboul are also out.
Spurs have a legitimate chance of claiming glory in the UEFA Champions League’s sister competition.

Can they do so, especially after being paired with the side of a tactically astute coach?
