The Bundesliga's dinosaur, Hamburger SV, is going through quite a tough time now; they are set to take on Bayern in the DFB Pokal today. Bert Van Marwijk had the support of the fans and the board until HSV went down 0-3 to Hertha Berlin last week. A sight for sore eyes, in this case, a side struggling to survive, is Felix Magath. Magath is an expert at the game of survival; he is known for his tough training regimes. The HSV job is definitely up for grabs at this point; Van Marwijk left his press conference prior to the Pokal semifinal after just three minutes. Magath meanwhile put in a cover letter for the job on Facebook (see further below for translation):

Translation: "Dear facebook friends and fans, dear HSV supporters, thank you for your unlimited faith, the tireless support and the enduring wave of posts and comments. I share you worries...football has to be at the forefront again...a solution is needed for the benefit of the club....the club has to show unity, internally and externally." (The Guardian)

Magath of course scored the goal which handed Hamburg their first and only European Cup title in 1982-83:

Will Magath help his old side survive?
