League leaders Juventus will play host to Sampdoria in a Serie A encounter on Saturday the 18th of January at the Juventus Stadium.

Preview: Hosts looking for sixth consecutive win in all competitions

The bianconeri have been on a red hot streak having won all of their last five matches in all competitions. Following their European heartbreak which saw the Old Lady getting knocked out of the competition at the expense of Turkish side Galatasaray, Juventus have picked themselves up in exemplary manner and look destined to clinch their 30th league title by the end of the season.

Despite the fact that Juve have made it look rather easy with the comfortable eight point lead they hold over second placed AS Roma, summer signing Carlos Tevez has praised the competitiveness of the Italian league and has labelled it as the ‘toughest’ league in the world.

"Unfortunately, it's not finished. We have some of the toughest away matches: Napoli, Roma, Lazio, AC Milan and Udinese, for example," commented the Argentinean on the title race.

"It's still the toughest league in the world. It's the university of football. Tactically, it's at the highest level here and we suffer on the field," he said.

"Italy is completing me. If you can score goals here, you can anywhere."

The former Man City man scored against his opponents on Saturday in his Serie A debut when the two sides met on the first day of the current season. Tevez’s solitary goal gave the Old Lady a 1-0 win over a Sampordia side which has fared well against the Turin club.

Sampdoria were the last Italian club to defeat the defending champions at their own backyard when they recorded a 2-1 victory over the Italian giants in January last year. Sampdoria then went ahead to score a league double over the bianconeri  when they scored a 3-2 win in the reverse fixture at Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris, thereby becoming one of the two clubs along with Bayern Munich to have beaten Juventus in both home and away matches last season.

Since Sinisa Mihajlovic replaced Delio Rossi in November last year, the Blucerchiati have lost just once in seven league outings. The Serbian has guided Sampdoria out of the relegation zone and has certainly made il Doria a difficult team to beat. In their last outing Sampdoria scored an easy 3-0 victory over Udinese  courtesy of brace by Brazilian international Eder.

Much for their good form, Sampdoria will find it extremely difficult to get the better of a side which won its 11th consecutive league game last week, bettering their own winning run which had stood for 80 years.

Antonio Conte will have the luxury of a fully fit squad at his expense as he welcomes back Andrea Barzagli from suspension. Carlos Tevez, Juventus’ top scorer in the league is expected to partner Fernando Llorente upfront, whereas Andrea Pirlo and Paul Pogba are expected to feature in the midfield with Claudio Marchisio  likely to settle for a place on the bench.

Sampdoria will make the trip to Turin without suspended duo Nenad Krsticic and Roberto Soriano. Pedro Obiang however having served his ban is expected to return to the starting line-up and 22 year old Manolo Gabbiadini who is co-owned by Juventus is expected to start against his parent club.
