Chile vs Zambia - International Friendly Match Preview

May 26, 2010 By Angela Asante
It's time for Chile to test their strength against an African nation and they've chosen Zambia to do so! The Chileans will host their counterparts in front of their home fans at the Estadio Municipal de Calama.

Chile players gather in celebration.Chile haven't played any top team like Holland, Argentina, Spain or Germany in the year 2010 as part of their preparations for the 2010 World Cup. However, they've tried to make the most of their friendly matches so far. They defeated Panama and Trinidad and Tobago whereas they avoided defeat against South American rivals Venezuela with a goalless draw back in April.

But their recent loss to Mexico seems to reveal that all is not so well with the Chilean squad that is mainly made of young and physically fit players. On Wednesday night, the home side will need to win big to prove that the country will not just be pretenders during the World Cup in South Africa but rather contenders. People who have an obsession for goals would love to think that Zambia will be no match for Chile. Actually, such people may be totally wrong to think this way.

The Chipolopolo have considerably improved over the past few years. They put up a great show in Angola during the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations which took place in January. It was only through controversial officiating which went against them that they lost their place in the semi-finals of the tournament at the expense of Nigeria. Now, Zambians are looking forward to a brighter future. They have amazing talent in every area of the field who work really well together as professionals. Chile should definitely watch out for a tough test.
