Tottenham Hotspur, led by their new manager Tim Sherwood, will step onto White Hart Lane to record a second win following a rather dire run of results.

Preview: Can Tottenham succeed under Tim Sherwood?

Tottenham, strangely enough, face a club in the same situation they themselves were in less than a week ago. Steve Clarke was fired after a poor run of results. The club, currently under the management of interim coach Keith Downing is in 16th place. They are looking for a turn in fortunes. Spurs on the other hand sit seventh. Following an exit in the Capital One Club at the hands of none other than West Ham United, they managed to beat Southampton 2-3.

Sherwood of course made alterations for this game. He switched to a two-striker system with Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor up front. Adebayor scored two of those goals. Tottenham already have six away wins to their name. However, their home record is rather poor. Only three wins at White Hart Lane have left the fans rather distraught.

Sherwood’s cause is not helped by Tottenham’s injury list. Harry Kane, Younes Kaboul, Andros Townsend and Jan Vertonghen will remain unavailable due to injury. Townsend and Vertonghen are obviously big misses. Paulinho is suspended as well. Mousa Dembele and Sandro are both rated doubtful. West Brom meanwhile has no injury worries to deal with.

Spurs have settled the future of their club at least until 2015 by signing Sherwood up to the end of the 2014-15 season. Downing has ruled himself out of such a contract for West Brom and has decided to remain on a temporary basis. Sherwood, obviously, knows Spurs from the grassroots level. He showed his levels of commitment to Tottenham’s official website recently.

“I've known it from the grass roots right up towards the first team, worked at every level of the football club and played here, so I know it better than most and hopefully that will stand me in good stead taking this club forward.”

The corresponding fixture between the two sides ended in a 1-1 draw. Benoit Assou-Ekoto put Spurs ahead but James Morrison scored the equalizer late on to steal a point for his side.
