Pompey went on to lose The FA Cup final that year, 2-0 to Bolton Wanderers.

The most recent clash came in the sixth round when Chelsea slammed Portsmouth 4-1 at Fratton Park. Chelsea went on to win the second of their five FA Cups that season with a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough in the final.

This is the tenth trip to The FA Cup Final for Chelsea. They are coming off their fifth FA Cup title last season after a 2-1 win over Everton in front of almost 90,000 fans at Wembley in last season’s final. The Blues recently ended a Manchester United run of three seasons as the Premier League champions by finishing one point ahead of the Red Devils in the league table.

Portsmouth finished at the other end of the Premier League standings this season and will be relegated to the Coca Cola Championship for next season. Pompey will be playing in their fifth final having split their last four appearances with a two wins and two losses. Portsmouth captured the 2008 FA Cup with a 1-0 win over Cardiff City.
