High flying Manchester City will make a visit to the Hawthorns where they face West Brom Albion in a Premier League encounter on December 4, 2013.

Manchester City will play at West Brom on December 4, 2013.Preview: City looking to improve away form in the league

The Citizens have climbed up to the third spot in the league thanks to two consecutive league wins which has seen them score nine goals without conceding any. Much for their dominant performances at the Etihad, City have not been the same side away from home winning just a single of the six away games they have played so far.

French playmaker Samir Nasri, who has blossomed this season under the tutelage of Manuel Pellegrini scoring twice in City’s last outing against Swansea lamented his team’s away form and insisted that it must improve if they are to emerge as title contenders this season.

"Everything is fine at the moment; we had a tough first half but we came back with the best intentions, scored three goals and kept a clean sheet so it's a good afternoon for us,” said the Frenchman speaking of the match against Swansea.

"We have to improve our form away from home and we have two games to do this [in the next seven days]. Six points is not a lot, in terms of the gap before we face Arsenal."

City will have to bear in mind that West Brom have fared well against stronger oppositions this season. Even though the Baggies find themselves 12th in the table with 15 points, they have notched up points against the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea and can surely cause an upset at the Hawthorns on Wednesday.

To make that possible Steve Clarke will have to devise a special plan to keep the superb Sergio Aguero at bay. The Argentinean is the league’s top scorer and has been Man City’s outstanding performer so far. Even though the 25 year old failed to register a goal in his last outing against Swansea, the former Atletico Madrid has three goals in his last three appearances and will surely be hoping to build on that.
West Brom meanwhile are unbeaten in their last four home league games, but suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Newcastle at St James’ Park in their last outing. The Baggies have won just once in their last five matches, the victory coming against Crystal Palace back on the second of November.

Man City have fared well against their opponents on Wednesday, having won four of the last five matches against West Brom which also includes a 2-1 victory at the Hawthorns last season. The Citizens will be further boosted by the return of captain Vincent Kompany who has recovered from a thigh injury. Man City’s Chilean tactician is also likely to rotate the squad with both James Milner and Aleksandar Kolarov vying for starting berths.

West Brom on the other hand are set to be without Youssouf Mulumbu who is suspended for the important match against Manchester City, Claudio Yacob is expected to start in the middle of the park instead.

Shane Long following his sublime brace against Aston Villa is deemed to lead the line again ahead of Saido Berahino and Victor Anichebe . Ben Foster on the other hand has not recovered from his injury thus Boaz Myhill is expected to take his position between the posts again.
