After dismantling West Ham at Upton Park, Chelsea now make a visit to Switzerland where they face Basel in a Champions League encounter at St. Jakob-Park.

Chelsea could seal UEFA Champions League knockout stage qualification away to Basel on November 26, 2013.Preview: Chelsea poised to clinch Last 16 tickets in Basel

The Blues can guarantee qualification to the next round if they are to beat the Swiss champions at their own backyard. However a victory might not come that easy keeping in mind the events which surfaced in the reverse fixture.

Chelsea took a lead in the 45th minute courtesy of an Oscar strike and Mourinho’s men looked certain to notch all three points from the match until Mohamed Salah levelled the scores in the 71st with a beautifully timed first touch shot. Streller scored another ten minutes later to hand Chelsea an unexpected loss.

After a disappointing run of games in the league which saw them drop points in consecutive games against Newcastle and West Brom, Chelsea put up a dominant performance in their last outing against West Ham scoring a comfortable 3-0 victory over the hammers.

Veteran midfielder Frank Lampard was the star of the show, playing against his former club the 35 year old scored twice to put his side in the driving seat.

Lampard came into this fixture in his worst goal scoring form in a decade having scored just thrice in ten league starts. However his head coach Jose Mourinho insisted that the Chelsea legend has nothing more to prove to the fans.

"I think he's in a moment where he has nothing to prove, to you, to the fans, to me. He has nothing to prove," spoke the Chelsea boss. "I was his manager in the best moment of his career, probably, and now I'm back for the final years. He must enjoy what he likes to do, which is enjoy football. Scoring is part of his DNA.”

"He played very, very well," Mourinho continued. "Another who was very comfortable on the pitch. He benefited from the protection offered from [John Obi] Mikel. After that, Lamps felt a bit more freedom to find theses shooting areas."

Mourinho also lauded Brazilian star Oscar who has seemed to found his scoring boots in England having scored five goals in ten Premier League starts so far.

"I think the same as you think," Mourinho responded, when asked how well he felt Oscar performed.

In the middle, on the sides, he works hard – he covers – and when he has the ball he's able to score.”

"It's not easy to succeed in this country, especially when so fragile, but his talent is amazing."

Basel on the other hand have had an incredible season so far, the Swiss league leaders have lost just once since August, the defeat coming in their last Champions League fixture against Schalke. However their season has been riddled with a lot of draws and FCB will need to grab all three points if they are to stand a chance to make it to the next round of the Champions League.

Basel are just one point behind second placed Schalke and a win over Chelsea will surely keep their hopes of making it to the last 16 alive. Murat Yakin will be without Behrang Safari and Marcelo Diaz who have been ruled out with injuries, the visitors on the other hand will not be able to recall services of Spanish international Fernando Torres who has not regained full fitness.
