West Brom face a difficult test ahead as they make a visit to Stamford Bridge on the 9th of November, where they face title contenders Chelsea in a Premier League tie.

Chelsea will welcome WBA at Stamford Bridge on November 9, 2013.Preview: Chelsea hopeful of maintaining home record at the expense of West Brom

Whereas their away record has been quite disappointing this season, Jose Mourinho’s second spell at the club has seen Chelsea once again maintaining their exemplary home record. The Blues have won all five matches they have played at home turf in the league this season, but have been able to notch all three points from only one away game.

In their last outing against Newcastle, Chelsea were humbled at St James’ Park as the Magpies strolled to a 2-0 victory. Jose Mourinho was hugely disappointed after the loss and one player who faced his wrath was Belgian winger Eden Hazard who was disciplined as a result of not being present for training on Monday. As a result the 22 year old was not included in the squad to face Schalke, but his Portuguese coach confirmed that his star player will be in contention to start against West Brom.

"Did he forget the time? Look, he's a kid. Kids make mistakes and fathers have to be clever in the way they educate their sons,” said the Portuguese tactician.

"He didn't play. He wanted to play. He was sad because he didn't play. We won without him."
On Saturday [against West Brom], he is back. So, end of story," said Mourinho.

"Let's forget Eden because I didn't select him and, on Saturday, he will be with the team. We know his talent. He will be on the bench or playing, but he will be in the squad, for sure."

Chelsea managed a victory over Schalke in midweek thanks to both of Chelsea’s strikers Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba who were on target. After a dismal few weeks which saw none of Chelsea’s strikers able to break the dead lock, the Blues finally have in their ranks three strikers who have rediscovered their scoring boots. Fernando Torres who starred in the 2-1 victory over Manchester City is unlikely to return from injury with Cameroon international Samuel Eto’o poised to start ahead of Demba Ba.

Chelsea will have to be wary of a West Brom side which has caused a few upsets on the road. The Baggies scored a well deserved 2-1 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford before restricting Arsenal to a1-1 draw at the Hawthorns.

Morgan Amalfitano in particular has been impressive since sealing his loan move to the English club from Marseille. The Frenchman scored and assisted another as West Brom scored a 2-1 win over the Red Devils. Another of West Brom’s summer recruit Stephane Sessegnon will be vital in the match against Chelsea. The former Sunderland man has been one of his team’s top performers this season and will have to be at his very best if West Brom are to get anything out of the match.

Boaz Myhill is likely to maintain the number one spot in the absence of Ben Foster who is expected to be out till the end of the month, whereas Victor Anichebe and former Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka are unlikely to feature on Saturday with hamstring injury and illness respectively.

Scott Sinclair who is on-loan from Manchester City will face a late fitness test to determine his inclusion in the squad whereas Zoltan Gera is unlikely to be fit in time for the clash against Chelsea.

For Chelsea, Fernando Torres and Ryan Bertrand will miss the home tie against Steve Clarke’s men but Eden Hazard is likely to return to the squad.
