Celta Vigo welcome defending champions and league leaders Barcelona to Balaídos in a La Liga encounter on Tuesday, the 29th of October 2013.

Barcelona are poised to trounce Celta Vigo a few days after beating Real Madrid in El Clasico.Preview: Barca poised to extend unbeaten run to 11 games in the League

The Blaugrana have only once dropped points in the league this season in a 0-0 draw against Osasuna. In their last outing the defending champions scored a comprehensive victory over rivals Real Madrid in a match Gerardo Martino’s men dominated.

Even though there were some decisions which went Barca’s way, it was for all to see that the residents of Camp Nou were the deserved winners. Barcelona’s Argentinean coach Gerardo Martino has turned out to be some coup for the Spanish champions. The 50 year old apart from being excellent at man management has also proven to be an astute tactician.

In their last outing against Real Madrid Tata Martino played star man Lionel Messi on the right flank instead of his preferred position down the middle. In doing so the Barcelona coach outsmarted his opposite number Carlo Ancelotti who had deployed Sergio Ramos in a holding midfield role in order to limit the threat posed by Messi from the centre.

However Messi is expected to return to his usual position in Tuesday’s encounter. An exhaustive fixture list which sees Barcelona play the second of their three matches within a week’s time might force Martino to shuffle things around.

Alexis Sanchez who scored a sublime goal in the clasico and Spanish international Pedro Rodriguez are both itching for a start and might be given an opportunity in the match against Celta Vigo. Whereas Carlos Puyol who was named on the bench in the El Clasico, is in contention to start at the heart of the defence in place of the injured Gerard Pique.

Four time Ballon D’or winner Lionel Messi appeared to be a fraction of his brilliant self when Barcelona took on Real Madrid on Saturday. The 26 year old has been struggling since his return from injury, but his countryman and coach Gerard Martino has been unfazed by Messi’s recent goal drought and believes the mercurial 10 will soon rediscover his scoring boots.

"I'm not worried about Messi, that's more something for people outside the club," Martino stated at a press conference.

"Even if Lionel doesn't score, he's still important for the team. If people think Messi is not doing well with his current stats, his stats will be out of this world once he's back to his so-called best again.

"Messi playing on the right against Madrid? He can play in a number of positions and that's only a good thing for the team."

Barcelona will be against a Celta Vigo side which has had a difficult start to the campaign. Os Célticos are currently 15th in the league table but will take confidence from their 5-0 battering of Bernd Schuster's Malaga.

Luis Enrique is however aware of the strength of his counterparts on Tuesday and reiterated that his side will need a bit of luck to turn the tide in their favour.

“To have a chance to win they have to have a slow day and we have to play at our best,” Enrique said.

“For us it is a very nice challenge to take on one of the best teams in the world.”
Enrique however has insisted that he will be hoping to notch all three points when his side meets the Spanish giants and has claimed that an upset might be on the cards.

“I would not take a draw now,” he said. “Maybe afterwards that would be a great result, but we go into the game with a winning mentality. They are very strong, but football is a sport that can surprise you. A game can be won in many different ways. I would like to have more possession than Barca, but that is difficult.”

Michael Krohn-Dehli might make a return to the squad after recovering from a sprained ankle, but Enrique might pick the same starting eleven which dismantled Malaga on Saturday.
