Defending English champions Manchester United welcome Norwich City to the Old Trafford in a Capital One Cup encounter on Tuesday, the 29th of October 2013.

Manchester United will be confident of beating Norwich City in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday.Preview: Man United looking to build on weekend victory

A comeback inspired by two late goals earned the Red Devils only their second victory in the last five games in the league as they defeated Stoke City 3-2. David Moyes’ side twice went behind as defensive frailties continued at Old Trafford but Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez scored within a space of two minutes to give their side a much needed victory.

Chicharito’s winner sent the Old Trafford into raptures and the United faithful would be expecting a renaissance following their heroic display on Saturday. The Mexican international who is expected to start against Norwich City expressed his delight on scoring the winner and insisted that Man United perform with the same spirit in their subsequent matches starting with Tuesday’s encounter against Norwich.

"I enjoyed it a lot because I helped the team and we got the three points because now we have won two games at home and that was the main goal that we had," Chicharito said.

"We have another game against Norwich here at Old Trafford, we want to get through in the Capital One Cup and keep winning. We want to win and win and win. Hopefully, we can do that."

Needless to say the defending Champions have a lot to work on despite earning three points last time out. The Man United defense has appeared to be more fragile than ever and David Moyes and his coaching staff will have to find a solution before it gets too late.

The Red Devils who have won the competition thrice in the last eight seasons will be looking to progress to the Quarter-Final stage of the competition against a Norwich side which has had a calamitous start to the season.

The Canaries have lost four of their last six games in the league and their antics have seen them enter into the relegation zone. Sunderland are the only side to have scored fewer goals than Norwich in the Premier league and in their last outing against Cardiff City, Chris Hughton’s side once again failed to make use of their chances with the match ending in a 0-0 draw.

Norwich have tasted success in the competition in the past having won the league cup in 1962 and 1985. They sealed their place in the last 16 with a remarkable 3-2 victory over Watford last month inspired by their new signing Gary Hooper. The former Celtic man scored in the dying moments to level the scores and then scored again in extra time to win the tie for his side.

However Norwich fans will be quite pessimistic of their chances when they face Manchester United at their own turf on Tuesday. But manager Chris Hughton insisted that his side will be up for the challenge when they face the four time league cup winners.

"They don't come any harder than an away game at Manchester United. But I think you have to relish the challenge," he said.

"It's a cup competition and any game at Old Trafford is an exciting prospect and one we'll very much be looking forward to."
