Schalke 04 welcome last year’s runners up Borussia Dortmund to the Veltins-Arena in a Bundesliga encounter on Saturday, the 26th of October 2013.

Borussia Dortmund will travel to Schalke for a Bundesliga match on October 26, 2013.Preview: Schalke to continue their good form in Ruhr Derby

The Gelsenkirchen club got the better of their rivals last season when they managed to get maximum points in both the matches. Even though they are not in the best if the runs, Schalke will hope to get the better of Dortmund once again. Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp recalled the incidents of the past year and claimed that the two defeats at the hands of their rivals were difficult to take.

"When you sign a contract at Borussia Dortmund, the first thing you learn is that there are 32 Bundesliga games and two derbies," he said according to ESPN.

"The results last year hurt me the most. If we had played better, the results would have been better. Those defeats are the dark clouds over our last campaign, which, even without a title, was still pretty good otherwise."

The two teams had contrasting results as far as European matches are concerned. Whereas Dortmund earned a hard fought 2-1 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates, Schalke were battered 3-0 by Chelsea at their own home.

Dortmund will be high on spirits after an impressive display against an Arsenal side which has exceeded expectations this term.Summer signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan who scored the opener in that match lauded teammate Robert Lewandowski who scored the decisive goal winning the tie for his side.

"Lewandowski is simply magnificent," the former Shakhtar Donetsk man said.

"He was the best against Arsenal. How he ran, fought and coolly finished for 2-1 was indescribable. For me, he is one of the best strikers in the world."

A victory against Schalke will not just give Dortmund bragging rights against their bitter rivals but will also allow them to keep the distance between themselves and league leaders Bayern as narrow as possible. Bayern currently hold a slender one point lead over Dortmund and are expected to win their next league match against Hertha Berlin.

Sebastian Kehl who missed the tie against Arsenal with a foot injury is expected to make a return, but Dortmund will continue to be without playmaker Ilkay Gundogan (back) and defender Lukas Piszczek (hip).

Kevin-Prince Boateng who was played in an unfamiliar lone striker role in the Champions League outing against Chelsea is set to return to his position in the midfield with leading scorer Adám Szalai set to regain his place upfront.

Jens Keller will however not be able to recall the services of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and midfielder Marco Hoger both of whom have knee problems as well as winger Jefferson Farfan who will continue to nurse his groin injury.
