With just five points from five games, the clock is ticking for the AC Milan manager whose team have clearly underperformed in the league so far.
It appears that one team in Milan has to suffer while the other can rejoice. Last season it was Internazionale who laboured throughout the campaign and failed to secure a place in Europe. This time, it is AC Milan who have been at their woeful best despite boasting such a promising group of players.

With five games already played, the Lombardy giants have amassed an equal number of points and have managed to win just once. If the opening days defeat to newly-promoted Hellas Verona was not enough, the residents of San Siro have made quite a meal of games they should be winning. The likes of Cagliari and Torino held them to draws before a home defeat at the hands of Napoli five days back. And in midweek, Massimiliano Allegri’s side had to come back from 3-1 down to earn a 3-3 draw against Bologna.

The kind of comeback that they managed shows that the Milanese side have a lot of potential. However, a team of such stature should not be putting itself in such a position at the first place.

And it appears that this time around, Massimiliano Allegri might not be given a lot of time to set things right. After last season’s failure to win anything of note, the bosses at the club are reportedly itching to raise the hammer but will fight the urge to do so before the upcoming encounter against Sampdoria.

With two points from five games, Sampdoria are having it rougher than Milan at the moment and will definitely be looking to bite at Allegri’s side while they are still down. However, this particular matchup offers Milan a great chance to return to winning ways and this fixture couldn’t have come at a better time for the Lombardy-based side.

One thing is for certain. Fans are still to see the real Milan so far this season. In fact, under Massimiliano Allegri, Milan have always suffered in the start of the league and have always won once in the first four games. Sure enough, Rossoneri manager has been crucified by the media and needs to do something quickly but if his performance in the past two seasons is taken into context, he has always sorted things out.

Two seasons back, Milan did not start well in the league. After an opening day win over Lecce, they lost to Cesena, drew with Catania and Lazio and had just five points from four games. The same amount of points was accumulated the following season where after draws against Lazio and Udinese, they were beaten by Napoli before winning 1-0 against Cesena. And only last season, they managed just three points from their first four games, having been defeated by Sampdoria, Udinese and Atalanta.

In short, the recent run of results might not bode well for the club but it should also not be considered as a sign of a disaster looming large which means that Allegri must be given time to get things right like he always does.
