Bayern Munich start the defense of their DFB Pokal title at home to Hannover 96 on September 26, 2013.Preview: Pep Guardiola looking to continue Bayern’s undefeated run

The Bavarians have had a blitzing start to the season and are currently undefeated in the last nine matches in all competitions they have played under new manager Pep Guardiola.

After losing his first competitive match as Bayern coach to title rivals Borussia Dortmund in the DFL-Supercup match, the Spanish tactician has not looked back and has gone on a devastating undefeated run which has seen the Bavarians thrash one opponent after the other.

Of the nine matches Bayern have played since their defeat to Klopp’s men, including the European Super Cup encounter against Chelsea, Pep Guardiola’s side has managed to win eight of their nine matches with the only draw which came against Sc Freiburg in a league encounter.

The treble winning side is now full of confidence after a 4-0 victory over Schalke, a performance which Pep Guardiola described as the best of the season so far.

"That was our best Bundesliga performance of the season so far," said Guardiola according to ESPNFC.

"We totally dominated one of the strongest teams in Germany."

"We took it very seriously from the start, our mentality was right. We were determined to take all three points," he said in the same report. "It's not easy to come here and win, so we're doubly delighted about doing just that. We were definitely very good at times."

Mario Götze and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg on the other hand have returned to full training but might not make the final cut. However Bastian Schweinsteiger is nearing full fitness but it remains to be seen whether Guardiola will risk his star man by playing him for the second time in five days.

Good news continues to flow in for the German champions who have received positive news in their pursuit of Polish hitman Robert Lewandowski who claimed that he will sign for the treble winning side in January.

When asked by Sport1 whether he would confirm his move to Bayern Munich in January, he responded:

"Yes, because then I can officially sign the contract," as reported by 101greatgoals.com.

Hannover on the other hand have had a decent start to their league campaign and currently sit fourth in the table with 12 points.

In their last Bundesliga encounter Hannover recorded a late win over Augsburg thanks to an inspirational second half from Szabolcs Huszti, who assisted the first and scored the second goal.

Die Roten played the match without star striker Mame Diouf who injured his right ankle while on international duty with Senegal and the 25 year old will miss the important match against Bayern Munich.
