Patrick Kluivert signs as lead pundit

Amsterdam, 29 April – Eurosport today unveiled its FIFA World Cup programming offer which will feature live daily shows broadcast directly from South Africa

Throughout the tournament Eurosport will broadcast two special programmes entitled Soccer City Flash and Soccer City Live.

Soccer City Flash
These daily five-minute bulletins will be presented by Eurosport's journalists, LIVE from the match venues. Featuring all the latest pre-match and post-match news, interviews and reports from Eurosport's on-site teams, Soccer City Flash will keep football fans up to date with all the excitement and breaking news from the World Cup as it happens.

Soccer City Live
Hosted by German journalist Gernot Bauer, this daily evening round-up show will come from Eurosport's on-site studio at the centrepiece of the World Cup, the backdrop of Johannesburg's spectacular Soccer City stadium.  Eurosport's journalists and consultants will deliver expert analysis on the day's events, including the matches and other top stories.

Patrick Kluivert, record goal-scorer for the Dutch national side (40 goals in 79 caps), will take the role of lead pundit for Soccer City Live. Kluivert's list of clubs reads like a who's-who of elite European football and having played for leading clubs in five of Europe's top leagues, his experience and expertise will provide viewers with a truly pan-European outlook on the World Cup.

Speaking today Kluivert said:” I’m thrilled to take Eurosport’s viewers on the journey and it’s a huge compliment that Eurosport thinks I’m the ideal consultant for them. In other words, I’m proud to be part of the Eurosport family. The World Cup is the biggest tournament and Eurosport is the biggest broadcaster in Europe, so that’s quite something!

Looking ahead to the World Cup the striker also made his predictions: “I think the final results of the tournament could be surprising due to the unusual circumstances in South Africa. For instance, the varying altitudes can be a difficult adjustment for some players. So it’s hard to say who might win! Personally, of course, I hope Holland have a chance. Holland has a well-balanced team, and it’s not due to luck that they were the first country to qualify. However, to be honest, I think Brazil will win. They’re just so amazingly good… England have a chance as well and Germany, are the ‘dangerous outsiders’

Soccer City Live will also showcase how Eurosport's TV programming is complemented by the interactivity of its network of websites, another cornerstone of its World Cup offer. Working with South African journalists to report on the atmosphere surrounding the tournament will ensure that, in addition to a global and pan-European view on the World Cup, a touch of local colour will be ever-present in Eurosport's programmes.

Soccer City Flash and Soccer City LIVE:  the latest updates, the best expertise and experience, all coming from the very heart of the FIFA World Cup.
