Pep Guardiola leads his Bayern Munich side on the field one last time before they take on Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup game, watch the action live on Gol TV and BT Sport 1.

Preview: Bayern looking to apply finishing touches before meeting Mourinho and co.

Mage Solar Stadion Freiburg will see the hosts take on a Bayern Munich side that has conceded just once so far in the German Bundesliga this season. However, Pep Guardiola’s side will have to face Christian Streich’s side without summer signing Thiago Alcantara who is out until November following a knee injury. The long-term injury is indeed a big blow for the Bavarians but the reigning German champions have enough in the reserves to dispose of Freiburg without much fuss.

Star midfielder, Bastian Schweinsteiger is confident that his side can continue their excellent start to the campaign when they face Freiburg this Tuesday. During the last league outing against Nuremberg, Bayern Munich put in a very professional display and won the game 2-0, the German international praised his side for pulling off a hard fought victory.

"I knew Nuremberg would basically defend in their own half," he said.

"We had to be a little bit patient, and we were. But we always stayed on the attack.

"Everyone saw that we shifted up a gear in the second half, and then we scored the vital opening goal.We know we can play even better, but that'll come."

French international, Franck Ribery was able to play in the game against Nuremberg despite suffering an ankle injury against Frankfurt. And after not showing any signs of weariness, the winger is set to start the midweek clash. Mario Gotze, who made his Bayern Munich debut at the weekend, is also likely to start the game.

The last time these two sides met in this fixture, a single goal by Emre Can was enough to give the Munich giants valuable three points.

After finishing fifth last term, Christian Streich’s men have had it rough in the Bundesliga this time around and are yet to register a win. However, one of the rare rays of sunshine in the dark clouds is that Freiburg have already faced two of the current top four sides in the division which means that it will get easier for them after they play against Munich.

Despite his team’s ailings, striker Sebastian Freis seems to be in good form, having scored two goals in three games. However, it is the team’s leaky defence that has let them down so far this campaign. And coming up against Munich, all the defensive frailties should be looked at or the home side could be in for a long 90-minute spell.

Although the game against Freiburg comes just before his side faces Chelsea, Pep Guardiola has the luxury to field a good second string squad as well if he chooses to which means that Freiburg’s task remains a tough one and their hunt for an elusive first win of the campaign might continue when the final whistle blows.
