Juventus kick off their 2013/14 Italian Serie A campaign against the only team which they failed to defeat last season: Sampdoria. Follow the match live on TV and radio in USA and other countries worldwide.

Sampdoria vs Juventus is the last match on Saturday, August 24, 2013.Preview: A very tricky start for the Scudetto champions

Anyone who is predicting a straightforward victory for the Old Lady this Saturday should consider the following statistics:

Sampdoria have not lost to Juventus on home soil in their last three meetings. They beat Juve 1-0 in March 2010, played out a goalless draw in January 2011 and clinched a 3-2 win towards the end of last season at the delight of their home fans. This defeat did not hurt the reigning Serie A champions but it somehow stained their Scudetto party.

Encounters between both side have been pretty close since the Bianconeri’s 5-1 trouncing of La Samp in October 2009. And since then, Juve are yet to beat their Genoa-based rivals. Could these recent records insinuate that Antonio Conte’s men will suffer an upset on Matchday 1 of the 2013/14 Italian Serie A?

Well, things change and Juventus have strengthened their already good squad this summer. With the aggressiveness of Carlos Tevez, the skill of Pogba and Asamoah, and the experience of Pirlo and Buffon, expect the Stadio Luigi Ferraris’ visitors to put in a strong fight.

Juventus are fresh from their resounding win over Lazio in the 2013 Supercoppa Italiana. It is in this spirit that they aim to ride all season long.

Meanwhile, the hosts will have to deal with the absence of Renan and Regini as the pair is suspended.
