Watch Real Madrid vs Chelsea - ICC 2013 ChampionshipPreview: Mourinho seeking vengeance against former employees

The match which promises to be a spectacle has received considerable hype thanks to Chelsea head coach Jose Mourinho who began the war of words as soon as he sensed a Madrid-Chelsea tie was on the cards.

The Portuguese hit out not only at his former club who relieved him of his duties last season, but he also made it a point to constantly criticize his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo.

Even though Ronaldo has kept his mouth shut and has chosen not to respond to Mourinho’s intriguing comments, it is certain that the Madrid’s number seven will be looking forward making a statement when the two teams take field on Wednesday.

Ronaldo has started in all of Madrid’s pre-season matches this season so far and has been nothing short of spectacular. The 28 year old has scored three goals in five appearances and will be aiming to better his tally against Mourinho’s men.

Take nothing away from Jose Mourinho, he is a cold blooded schemer and will be doing everything possible to get a victory against his former side. The 50 year old has been bitter of the fact that he was not allowed to run Real Madrid the way he wanted to and has been quite expressive of his feelings.

Mourinho who spent three year at the Bernabeu will be well aware of the weaknesses of every player and will be looking to work on them in order to ensure a victory in Wednesday’s encounter. This will be the second time Mourinho faces a former team in this tournament, Chelsea faced Inter Milan earlier in the competition when goals from Oscar and Eden Hazard settled the tie for the Blues.

Both Madrid and Chelsea are currently unbeaten in pre-season games, but whereas Chelsea have managed three clean sheets, Madrid have managed only one in five games. It is the defensive aspect which Madrid will have to work upon given the plethora of attacking talent which Chelsea possess.

Lukaku who returned to the club following a successful loan spell last season, looks nothing short of the player who put the Hawthorns into raptures following his excellent performances for West Brom last season.

Chelsea have further strengthened their attacking force by another returning loanee Kevin De Bruyne, who impressed at Werder Bremen last season. Whereas Andre Schurrle who opened his Chelsea account with a delightful volley against AC Milan on Saturday is another player to look out for.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti in contrast to his counterpart has gone about his business quietly. The Italian has so far managed to guide his team to victory in every of Madrid’s pre-season games and will be looking to continue the streak when he faces Chelsea, a side he guided to a League and FA Cup double in the 2009-2010 season.
