Barcelona will play an early game against lowly side Deportivo Xerez on Saturday in La Liga, in preparation of their Champions League game against Inter Milan next Wednesday.

Lionel Messi
against Espanyol last weekend in La Liga on
Day 33

This game will serve them as a chance to keep their lead at the top of La Liga standings, especially in view of the fact that they were unable to grab a win last weekend away to Espanyol. The Catalans drew 0-0 against their city rivals at the disappointing of their fans.

Barcelona – Get ready

This should normally be an easy game for Barca who have all their players available for Saturday apart from Andres Iniesta and Dani Alves. But the most significant thing in the end will be the vision that emerges from the 90 minutes at the Camp Nou–which will hence show, more or less clearly, the outcome of their next task at home to Inter Milan next week.

Barcelona lost 3-1 to the Serie A leaders, considering the fact that the referee gave his favor to Inter; yet, the only thing that the Catalans can do in the meantime is to focus on La Liga and remain in front of Real who are just behind, with a single point separating the two sides. Barcelona have proved to be in quite good shape this season at home, having drawn just one game, and won 15 in 16 challenges at the Camp Nou in La Liga. Xerez could spoil that record with a little bit of confidence, although the Blaugrana seem to be the favorites.

Deportivo Xerez – Locked in the Relegation Zone?

Thierry Henry away to XerezBottom side Xerez have a poor attainment this season, having lost 18 games overall, and won only 6 in 33 encounters. Surely, this shows how bad their displays have been, however, they will be asked to shock the league leaders on Saturday if ever they keep their minds set on a stay in the Primera Division next season.

Xerez are very much likely to drop to the Segunda Division after the summer of this year, as they are 6 points away from the 17th place in the table. Barcelona do not look ready to drop points again for the second time in a row this weekend, and this is what makes the challenge of Xerez even more harder.

The first time both sides met this season, a controversial match on the side of Barcelona ended 2-0 at the Estadio Municipal de Chapin in favor of the visitors–following goals from Thierry Henry and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. This time, Xerez will have to take advantage of the fact that Barca might be overanxious rather than faultless, in order to snatch the show and shock the Spanish title holders.
