Tottenham Hotspur are hell-bent on keeping their star man at the club and have even branded quite a hefty price-tag on him, something quite a few clubs would be willing to pay.
As things stand, Wales international, Gareth Bale is one of the most wanted players in European football. After a stellar last season with Tottenham Hotspur, Bale has already justified that he definitely is in for the long haul in terms of global stardom. Setback after setback during his early days as a professional football, the youngster has shown great mental strength to be where he is today.

And his talent has been acknowledged by so many former legends, including Zinedine Zidane, the director of sports at Real Madrid. The former France international is a big fan of the Welshman and has made no secret of his desire to bring the player to the capital of Spain.
Coveted by both Manchester United and Real Madrid, it will not be unnatural if Bale feels the need to at least talk to both suitors who are willing to go the extra notch in their pursuit of the forward.

Reports claim that Real Madrid are preparing a staggering 91 million pound deal for the youngster. However, it is very likely that Spurs would reject the offer as they find the prospect of life without Bale at White Hart Lane, too hard to handle.

Indeed, without their most influential player, Spurs will never be able to achieve a top four finish let alone mount a title challenge. Andre Villas-Boas is very eager to keep the player in London but even he has to accept that before long, they will have to sell Bale.
Interest from Madrid is genuine and so it is from United.

However, one really has to wonder why Real are so desperate to launch such an audacious bid for the player. Although he has achieved quite a lot last season, paying 91 million whether it’s in euros, pounds or dollars, is hard to fathom. When Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United for a world record fee, he had achieved everything the club could offer him.

Bale on the other hand, has not managed to win any silverware so far which means that the Welshman has a lot to prove before being breathed in the same air as Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. However, one also has to understand Madrid’s need to make a marquee signing after missing out on Neymar who chose to join bitter rivals Barcelona.

Regardless, it is still very illogical for Real Madrid to make a move for Bale considering the fact that they already have a player who plays in Bale’s preferred position. That player is none other than Ronaldo himself and it is very unlikely that Florentina Perez would ever sanction a transfer for his team’s golden boy.

The prospect of seeing Ronaldo and Bale playing together is mouth-watering, needless to say if Bale does find his feet at the Bernabeu Madrid would be in pole position to recapture the league title they lost to Barcelona last season.

However the discussion still remains whether the Welsh wizard deserves the honour of being the most expensive player in the history of club football.
