Sir Alex Ferguson continues to deny rumours of any rift between himself and Rooney, he further ensures United fans that the star man will be offered a new contract when the time comes.
Rooney was dramatically left on the bench for the important clash against Real Madrid, whereas 40 year old Ryan Giggs and 22 year old Danny Welbeck were preferred to start against the Los Blancos.

Only moments after the match arguments started to stir up on Rooney’s future at the club, with top English newspapers claiming that Rooney was on his way out after falling out with his manager.

However Ferguson continues to deny any truth in such rumours, he reiterated that the former Everton man is approaching the peak of his career and United will want to retain their best players at the club.

"There is absolutely no issue about a new contract for Wayne,” he told The Mirror.

He further ensured the United fans, that their star man will not be allowed to leave and will be offered a contract when necessary.

“When it is time to renegotiate with Wayne it will be done. We don’t want our best players to leave and Wayne is coming into his mature years."

The Scot has instead labelled injuries and illness as the primary reasons behind his goal drought towards the beginning of the season.

"He got me 32 goals last season and, although he’s had issues with illness and injuries this year, and hasn’t had a long run of games, he’s already got me 14 goals," said the 71 year old.

He was aggressive when questioned on how Rooney and him do not communicate at the training ground and regarded such exclamations as an insult to himself and the player.

“For people to suggest that I don’t talk to Wayne on the training ground is absolute b******s. It’s an insult to me and to Wayne.”
