Chelsea fans continue their rant on interim manager Rafa Benitez, after weeks of abuse the Spaniard has finally hit back and has promised the fans that he will leave once his term ends this summer.
The visiting Chelsea fans were in top volume in the last 15 minutes during Chelsea’s FA cup tie against Middlesbrough, the fans condemned their manager Rafa Benitez and demanded that he be removed from his post.

The Chelsea fans had never been in favour of the appointment of the Spaniard and welcomed him to Stamford Bridge with boos jeers and insulting chants. Benitez has been subject to abuse, mainly because of his past association with Liverpool and his strained relationship with then Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.

The fans also despise him for being the man to replace Di Matteo, a man who had won their hearts as a player as well as a manager.
However would things be different if Chelsea were on a better run?
Chelsea since Benitez’s appointment have only managed 14 wins in 27 games, they have also surrendered their third spot to Tottenham and are on the verge of dropping out of the top four being only two points behind city rivals Arsenal.

The Chelsea fans, who were already disgusted by the appointment of Rafa, are further infuriated by Chelsea’s poor performances under the Spaniard. Chelsea had a fair lead over both its London counterparts, but are now under the danger of finishing out of the top four and not being able to qualify for the Champions League.

However one does have to feel sorry for Benitez, the former Liverpool man was never given a chance to settle down. He has been subject to heavy criticism since the first day of his appointment, Stamford Bridge is decorated with “Rafa out” banners at every corner and the fans continue to sing against him.

After Benitez’s rant on Chelsea fans, things are only expected to get worse for Chelsea as well as Benitez. Rafa blamed a proportion of Chelsea fans to be carrying an “agenda”, Chelsea fans in doing so are worsening Chelsea’s chances of a Champions League qualification. With the manager already distracted by the constant loathe he is getting at the hands of the fans, the players are likely to lose focus too.

Chelsea fans for the sake of their club should back their manager, till his tenure ends. On Saturday a distended Rafa Benitez will step into Stamford Bridge again, following his rant against the Chelsea fans it will be interesting to see how they greet him.
