Watch how Manchester United managed to hold off a dangerous Liverpool side in the English Premier League on Sunday, January 13, 2013.

Robin van Persie's goal powered Manchester United to a 2-1 victory over Liverpool. Robin van Persie opened the scoring inside the first 20 minutes of the match. Nemanja Vidic doubled Manchester United’s lead in the second half before substitute Daniel Sturridge pulled one back for Liverpool.

However, the visitors failed to add up to this strike as the match ended 2-1 in favour of Manchester United. Hailing the importance of the victory, Danny Welbeck told Sky Sports afterward:

“Robin's different class, he produces moments in games that others can't do and we're glad to have him on our side. As he's shown today, he put the ball in the back of the net.

“I think during the season, we need to get three points in every game. It's what we set out to do today and thankfully, it's happened.

“We had our gameplan set up and I think it worked really well to be honest in the first half. Second half, they got into it a bit more but it was a great team performance, I think we dug in really well.”

Manchester United's next test is against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.
