Theo Walcott might have proven to be Arsenal’s new superstar but Arsene Wenger is still bitter about losing Robin van Persie to Manchester United last summer.

Arsene Wenger misses Robin van Persie's Arsenal days. The Gunners will face the Citizens on Sunday in a highly anticipated English Premier League clash. The sad truth for Arsenal fans is that the title race factor is not part of build-up preparations.

While second-placed Manchester City still stand a chance of retaining their English Premier League crown, Arsenal must focus on nothing more than breaking into the top four.

They currently seat in sixth position with two games in hand over Tottenham Hotspur and Everton who are fourth and fifth respectively. Speaking to English media The Sun, Frenchman Arsene Wenger avowed:

“It is painful to see Manchester United so far in front of us. You know when you sell Robin van Persie to United that will be the case. He is one of the best strikers in the world and you know he will score goals. He got 30 for us in the league last year.”

Arsenal are contemplating victory at home to the Premiership champions as Wenger explained:

“A win against City would improve the confidence of the team.”

“The title looks unlikely but we do not have to give up. We want to fight to come closer and then hope we still have a chance.”

Arsenal are 18 points behind league leaders Manchester United. Meanwhile, Manchester City enter this battle having won four of their last five fixtures in the league. Counting the FA Cup, the Citizens are also on a run of three consecutive victories on the domestic front.
