The 17th round of fixtures in the Spanish Primera Division will gradually hit its climax over a period of three days. On Friday, Espanyol and Deportivo La Coruna will engage in a relegation battle, Sevilla will try to avoid their eighth defeat of the campaign and Levante will continue their chase for an European zone finish.
On Saturday, wounded Atletico Madrid will try to bounce back against a Celta Vigo team ranked 13 places below. Valencia and Getafe will lock horns in an expected tight encounter. Finally on Sunday, the country’s biggest clubs, Real Madrid and Barcelona, will be in action. The Blaugrana, who have been hit with bad news concerning Tito Vilanova's health, are poised to trounce Real Valladolid and move one point short of the 50-point mark.
Meanwhile, bitter rivals Real Madrid will have a difficult task away to fourth-placed Malaga. Los Blancos have yet to hit top form and steadiness this season while Malaga are fresh from a 2-0 defeat of Sevilla.
