Bayern increased their lead to a massive 11 points over second placed Bayer 04 Leverkusen this week.

Juan Arango’s left-foot is under-rated in the world of football

Arango scored a goal which defied logic against Mainz 05. His goal was reminiscent of the second strike of David Villa against Chile in the 2010 World Cup. The ball flew into the air and out of view. It then bounced into the goal. Lucien Favre was so excited that he came onto the pitch to celebrate the strike.

Had Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi scored such a goal, the world would be talking about the strike. The counter-argument of why this strike isn’t getting as much attention as it should be is that one might be compelled to think that Arango doesn’t do this week in week out. However, the fact is that he does commonly provide wonderful passes and scores wonderful goals. This Venezuelan is a special player and his strike is perhaps already, the goal of the season.

Augsburg needs to search for a striker in the winter

Augsburg’s results have been deceiving as far as their performances are concerned. They have played well from time to time but haven’t picked up enough points due to the lack of a finisher. Sascha Mölders has bagged three since he came back from injury but he doesn’t seem to be the figure Augsburg needs to save their season. Aristide Bance, a hit at Mainz in his time, hasn’t managed to do well at FCA. Markus Weinzierl and the staff will need to scour Europe’s benches for a striker who provides much needed goals.

Artjoms Rudnevs has proved to be a great signing for HSV

When Rafael Van der Vaart was injured, pessimist HSV fans might have wondered how many points HSV would pick in the final days of 2012. As it turns out, they have done well. One of their new transfers, Rudnevs has done brilliantly. He scored a brace against Hoffenheim to take his season tally to six goals. The first of the pair was a disguised looping header. The second was simply a classy finish.

Dante has proved to be an excellent signing for FCB

Bayern defensive record is brilliant. They are on track to set the record for the least number of goals conceded in a Bundesliga season already. They have conceded only six goals this season so far. However, Augsburg managed to create good chances and had Sascha Mölders been clinical and fortunate, they would have scored.

There was unfortunately one man in the way of most of Augsburg’s attacks- Dante Bonfim. Bayern has made two signings in midfield worth 40 million euros and 5 million euros; yet it is this experienced Brazilian making waves currently. He has played brilliantly throughout the season and has become Jupp Heynckes’ first choice centre-back. He has also become somewhat of a fan favourite already.

The two teams in the BL one should never make predictions about: Stuttgart and Bremen

Frankfurt has not been on great form recently after a great start to the season. Werder Bremen was supposed to beat them. However, Bremen’s defence had several lapses including unfortunate slips which allowed Frankfurt to strike four times. Nobody would have predicted a 4-1 Frankfurt win. Similarly, Bremen has been shockingly defeated by Augsburg this season.

Stuttgart meanwhile beat Schalke 3-1 whereas they were hammered by Bayern and later by Freiburg. Hence, if one is a betting person, one should never bet on Bremen or Stuttgart. The chances of winning out are slim.
