The first Derby della mole since the 2008-2009 season is finally upon us. And it will be played at the new Juventus stadium for the first time.

A player to mark: Marchisio of Juventus. Things have remained the same between Torino and Juventus fans, despite them not sharing the same stadium anymore. The animosity and competition between the two sides is still strong in Turin, they have not played each other in three seasons.

Juventus Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal is injured and he will be replaced with Paul Pogba in the center. Martin Caceres is also injured and remains a doubtful start because Giorgio Chiellini return from injury means that he will regain his place in defence. Torino players Vives, Bakic and Suciu are unavailable for this derby.

 

Match analysis

Juventus will field a strong side despite a crucial Champions League game next week against Shakhtar Donetsk, which they cannot afford to lose. An early goal would mean that stand in Coach Angelo Alessio will make some quick changes to rest his players for the midweek tie.

Fabio Quagliarella might start from the bench after a spat with Angelo last week during the 1-0 loss to Milan. Despite a strong showing against Chelsea a couple of weeks ago, Juve lost against Milan last week. They have now lost to both the Milan sides Inter and AC Milan and yet they are top of the league with a two point lead over Lazio. Morale is still high in the Juve camp and a strong showing in this derby match against Torino should return things to normalcy.

Torino are just four points above the relegation and they have not won against Juve since the 1994-95 season. Toro are strong down the wings and it will be a fascinating battle between the two set of players on the flanks. They regularly play in a 4-4-2 formation and coach Ventura may ask one of the two strikers to track back to press Pirlo in midfield.

Watch out for the both sets of fans whose ultras are notorious for chanting about the Superga air disaster that killed 18 Torino players and the Calciopoli scandal that saw Juve relegated and were docked points.
