The smooth adventure continues for Barcelona who dramatically claimed victory in Europe on Tuesday. The Catalans left it very late against Celtic and are now brimming with confidence ahead of this weekend’s clash away to Rayo Vallecano.

In their last fixture, against Deportivo La Coruna, Barcelona’s defensive weakness was totally exposed but the priceless input of Lionel Messi ensured a 5-4 victory. Tito Vilanova’s men may be much more cautious on Saturday as they possess the opportunity of creating a temporary 11-point gap over La Liga champions Real Madrid.

As for Los Blancos, they could not overcome their German soil curse in midweek. For the 23rd time in 24 matches in Germany, the Spanish giants failed to win. Despite Cristiano Ronaldo’s sublime strike, Real Madrid left Borussia Dortmund with a 2-1 defeat in the bag.

Until the UEFA Champions League campaign resumes in early November, Jose Mourinho will try to get his team focused on the Spanish Primera Division. They will play in Mallorca on Sunday with the aim of clinching their fifth win in nine league games.

Another interesting match on Sunday is Atletico Madrid vs Osasuna. The hosts currently have 22 points like Barcelona whereas Osasuna occupy the very bottom of the table.
