New International Sports Network Prepares for Its First Exclusive, LIVE Coverage of Legendary Soccer Rivalry
MIAMI, Oct. 3 – beIN SPORT, the new independent 24-hour global network dedicated to live and exclusive coverage of the world’s best international sports, will televise its first El Clásico between La Liga’s Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona live from Spain on Sunday, Oct. 7 at 1:45 p.m. Eastern Time (ET).

With the latest match kicking off at Barcelona’s Camp Nou, El Clásico is one of the most-watched sporting events in the world. As two of the world’s most popular and successful soccer clubs, the team’s rosters are filled with electrifying soccer mega-stars such as Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.

Both teams have dominated La Liga for decades and play each other twice each season during league play. Real Madrid leads the head-to-head results in competitive matches with 88 wins to Barcelona’s 87 wins. In their most recent match last April, Real Madrid beat Barcelona beat 2–0.

“At least twice a year, El Clásico answers the burning question for soccer fans, ‘What happens when two immovable objects collide?’” said Yousef Al Obaidly, managing director of beIN SPORT. “The match spotlights one of the most intense and storied rivalries in all sports and always results in incredible soccer action for millions of fans.”

In addition to being the exclusive provider of La Liga games, beIN SPORT features coverage of all the top soccer leagues and tournaments from Europe and South America, including games from Italy’s Serie A, France’s Ligue 1, South American World Cup Qualifiers and Copa America 2015. The network also televises the away games for the U.S. men’s national soccer team in the qualifying rounds of the 2014 World Cup.

El Clásico will be available from DIRECTV on channel 620 in English and channel 426 in Spanish, and from DISH on channel 408 in English and 871 in Spanish. The game is available to Comcast Xfinity subscribers in both languages as well. Channels vary by market. Check your local provider for details.
